Some bauxite is currently too low grade to be economically mined. Worldwide, known deposits of high-grade bauxite total approximately 29 billion tonnes. Geologists estimate this will last about another 100 years. However, more deposits of high-grade bauxite are likely to be discovered, which will extend this time to about 300 years.
