POLITO SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS THE GREEN TEAM AND THE GOVERNANCE MODEL

POLITO SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS OUTPUT AND PUBLICATIONS DISSEMINATING POLITO S SUSTAINABILITY PURPOSES Research, especially for a public institution like PoliTO, acquires particular importance when it provides the basis for creating possible developments in sustainability issues: data, analysis results and objectives of sustainability are part of PoliTO s output and publications shared with the public and avaible on Green Team s official channels. SUSTAINABILITY REPORT Green Team, 2016 PROGRAMMATIC DOCUMENT Green Team, 2016

ENERGY AND BUILDINGS ENERGY AND BUILDINGS 16,7 GWh 12,6 GWh 2,9 GWh REDUCE electricity AND district RATIONALIZE heating natural gas 100% 0,63 PRIMARY ENERGY RENEWABLES USE ENERGY IN THE CAMPUS Less and more sustainable energy, by reducing the consumptions of our buildings and plants, producing or buying energy from renewables and from more efficient urban energy systems Data Sustainability Report 2016 Total energy consumption 4,967 ktoe per cubic meter 0,004 toe/m 3 per student 0,166 toe/student Carbon footprint 2,217 CO 2 kt

ENERGY AND BUILDINGS INITIATIVES 100% ELECTRICITY FROM RENEWABLES 80% DISTRICT HEATING We use only renewable electricity: photovoltaic (680 kwp) and green procurement with Guarantee of Origin. Space heating in our buildings is mostly supplied by the Turin district heating, one of the most efficient in Europe. TARGET SAME ACTIVITIES AND SAME COMFORT WITH LESS ENERGY -20% electricity consumption for lighting -10% electricity consumption at night or holidays time -5% energy consumption for heating and cooling Open Lab: field tests of energy efficiency actions

MOBILITY AND TRANSPORT MOBILITY AND TRANSPORT PURSUE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF MOBILITY IN THE CAMPUS The sustainability of mobility from and to the University campus and between its five metropolitan poles - means guaranteeing a freedom of movement to all its employees and, as far as possible, users. PoliTO is not only committed to propose new vehicles, services and systems, innovative ICT applications for URBAN MOBILITY PLANS, but also to promote them in mobility management activities of TURIN CITY COUNCIL.

MOBILITY AND TRANSPORT INITIATIVES TARGET FACILITATE PUBLIC TRANSPORT To know, in continuity with the past, the mobility needs of University employees and students, stimulating the use of public transport and stipulating agreements with public sustainable mobility systems (bike and car sharing services, railway and tram lines). An entity such as PoliTO has an important influence on the city and on users themselves who often are not aware enough in terms of DISPOSAL, RECYCLING and sustainability of SUPPLY CHAINS

FOOD, WATER AND WASTE INITIATIVES TARGET DISSEMINATE AWARENESS ON FOOD AND WASTE Sensitize people to a more conscious use of resources, sharing more knowledge about the end of life of the products and the problems about disposal; intensify the separate collection of the waste and the presence of water points in the various PoliTO s sites. LESS WASTES AND MORE FOOD CHOICE Installation of internal drinking water points and distribution of personal water bottles to reduce the consuption of plastic; special waste collection and disposal of special supply chains; installation of separate and safe food lines for particular food needs.
