2 Why are we here? At the conclusion of this session you will be an accredited PESCI interviewer for hospitalbased position interviews in Victoria and will: coordinate and participate in PESCI interviews; manage the PESCI process and reporting requirements.
3 Training Objectives At the completion of the training, participants will: Be familiar with the PESCI process, including: Position risk assessment; Conducting a PESCI; Composition & responsibilities of the interview panel; Required documentation. Understand the principles and strategies of effective structured behavioural & clinical interviewing Be skilled in the process of developing position specific interview questions Be skilled in drawing out information from applicants and probing for specific details when necessary Be able to record accurately evidence of understanding and skills in the required areas and score applicants accordingly

14 Defining what is a well supervised HMO level hospital position? A supervisor is physically present or contactable and available to respond at short notice at all times (inc after hours care). IMG consults a supervisor about all patient management. Determining the need for a PESCI

The IMG must inform the supervisor at agreed intervals about the management of individual patients If the IMGs supervisor is absent, a medical practitioner with general or specialist registration must provide oversight (direct or indirect) Determining the need for a PESCI

Interview panel criteria: 3 panel members At least two of whom are medical practitioners familiar with the clinical and professional demands of the position At least two of whom have had specific PESCI training.
