1 SfL23 Operate equipment to perform work requirements in logistics Overview What this standard is about This standard is about the safe operation of both mobile and fixed equipment. It deals with identifying the correct equipment for the task, ensuring it is safe to use and returning the equipment to the correct place after use. Who this standard is for This standard is relevant to all operatives at every level in logistics. Operatives could, for example, be working in warehousing and storage, transport, or freight forwarding SFLWS23 1
2 Performance criteria You must be able to: P1 confirm the work required and identify the appropriate equipment to undertake it P2 check that the appropriate equipment is available, safe to use, and operational for the work to be carried out P3 prepare, set up and adjust the equipment in accordance with instructions, safety, and work requirements P4 monitor the equipment to maintain safe operation throughout the work, and record any defects and damage to the equipment P5 secure equipment in accordance with organizational procedures P6 identify any problems with using the equipment at any stage, and take the appropriate action to deal with them P7 record work according to organisational procedures P8 comply with the organisation s procedures and all relevant legal, safety and operating requirements relating to the operation of equipment SFLWS23 2
