2 EID Electronic Identification Making It Work For Me What is EID? Electronic Identification (EID) is the technology that allows the Ear Tag to transmit a unique animal ID number to a Reader. Each ear tag contains a chip that carries a unique identification number. The Reader communicates with the ear tag and registers that unique number. The Tag/Reader system works a) automatically no manual recording required and b) irrespective of dirt and water, no need for visual clarity An added cost but one that can be leveraged to your advantage. Teamed up with weighing & EID reading equipment, your EID tags become the lynch pin in an automated and accurate recording system. This system will enable you to see which animals are performing and which are not, and do something to improve production and stock value realised.
