Why not consider a master planning document for your facility? Master planning is very much a requirement for validation and cgmp compliance. A planned and coordinated approach to water use and water processing for a new facility has significant benefits, and very attractive capital investment and operational savings. The advantages of a master plan would be for documentation of all the water systems in a facility, for multi-facility companies, as well as standardization of designs, methods, and procedures. This plan must include every user in the facility including manufacturing, heating, boilers, closed loop cooling, cooling towers, and potable water requirements, etc. The advantage of such an approach would be an integration of all users and planning for effective usage and reductions of chemicals and waste. The plan should be the combined efforts of the maintenance and engineering departments with the approval of quality assurance. When?
