STATE ATOMIC ENERGY CORPORATION ROSATOM Rosatom Integrated Offer for Africa JSC Rusatom Overseas March, 2016
WORLD TOWARDS CO 2 REDUCTIONS «Can you actually get the amount of CO 2 put out per each unit of energy to zero? If you burn coal, NO. If you burn natural gas, NO. Almost every way we make electricity today, except for the emerging renewables and nuclear, puts out CO 2. And so, what we're going to have to do at a global scale, is create a new system. And so, we need energy miracles». Bill Gates 2
Emissions (Mt CO 2 eq.) SOUTH AFRICA: COMMITMENT TO A BETTER FUTURE South Africa has observed and is projecting further trends of MARKED TEMPERATURE INCREASES AND RISING SEA LEVELS, with the country still being HEAVILY DEPENDENT ON COAL! South Africa has pledged the following Intended Nationally Determined Contribution: South Africa s emissions by 2025 and 2030 will be in a range between 398 and 614 MtCO 2 e. Emissions concerned: CH 4, CO 2, HFCS, N 2 O, PFCS, SF 6. Historical emissions Current policy projections Historical emissions from forestry Existing fleet of coal-fired plants is old, inefficient and is nearing the end of its design life-cycle. Current policy-based projections are estimated to lead to an emissions level of 729 MtCO 2 e in 2020, which is equivalent to a 110% increase in emissions from 1990 levels. For 2030, the current policy analysis suggests a further increase in emissions to 943 MtCO 2 e, representing a 172% increase in emissions compared to 1990 levels.* * Excluding land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities. 3
NUCLEAR ENERGY ADVANTAGES WHY GO NUCLEAR? Low level of carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions; LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT Stable LCOE throughout the whole 60-year life cycle results in efficient cost management; ENERGY SECURITY Foreseeable volume of power generation allows to plan power supply to the grid ahead throughout the whole life-cycle; No risk of technical maintenance cost increase; Cost of generation is barely affected by fuel price fluctuations; ECONOMIC GROWTH INDUSTRY INVOLVMENT Nuclear power plant project implementation is accompanied by massive benefits for the local and national economy; 4

ROSATOM FUEL SUPPLY SOLUTION ROSATOM OFFERS ITS CUSTOMERS UNINTERRUPTED SUPPLY OF NUCLEAR FUEL DURING THE WHOLE LIFE CYCLE OF NPP What is unique about Rosatom Fuel Solution? Hexagonal fuel assembly and active zone arrangement Why Rosatom is a Reliable Supplier? Rosatom has second largest uranium reserves in the world. Rosatom fuel fabrication facilities are flexible in terms of production load. Rosatom fuel assembly features unique hexagonal cross section. Hexagonal fuel assembly is rigid and more resistant to external impacts than square fuel assemblies. Hexagonal fuel assemblies allow to load more fuel into active zone. Fuel burnup is up to 70 MW*day/kg (U). Rosatom has experience in delivering nuclear fuel by different means of transport. Rosatom covers 17% of global nuclear fuel market. One out of six reactors in the world utilizes Rosatom nuclear fuel. 14
