1 What is the EPS Recycling Program? There are many different forms of Foam Packaging used to package Kodak s products. This brochure is designed to provide information on the proper disposal and recycling of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Packaging. What is Expanded Polystyrene Packaging (EPS)? Expanded polystyrene foam packaging is the familiar white material that cushions, insulates and protects all types of products during distribution. This includes custom shaped material used to package electronic equipment and appliances, loose fill packaging often called "peanuts", blocks of foam which protect furniture and appliances and shipping containers used to help preserve perishable foods and medicines. According to the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers (AFPR), EPS is safe in landfills and can be recycled. There are over 200 recycling locations across the United States, to make recycling your EPS Foam Packaging waste simple.

2 How do I participate? Contact the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers (AFPR) at (410) and ask for the nearest EPS packaging foam recycling center to your facility. Refer to the following map to get an idea where these facilities are located. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam packaging is an excellent material for recycling. This map will help you identify the best method to get your foam to the nearest and most convenient collection center. 3 What do I do? Once you have identified the closest collection site, call them to verify drop-off times and check to see what types of polystyrene material they accept. Kodak will not be responsible for any transportation or other costs incurred. Make sure your EPS is clean and free of any plastic film, loose parts or glued-on cardboard. Each EPS collection site has distinct criteria regarding the types of material they can accept. The locations provided are intended to include recycling centers for expanded polystyrene transport packaging ONLY. To obtain information about other polystyrene recycling opportunities, including foodservice, rigid durable goods and other plastics, please send your request to or call AFPR at (410) to be referred to the correct information resource. What happens to the EPS foam when it is recycled? EPS protective foam packaging can be recycled and reused in several ways: AFPR members reprocess up to 60% of the post consumer foam collected and incorporate it directly into new packaging. Some of the material is extruded for use in a wide variety of durable plastic products. Loose fill packaging "peanuts" can be reused at thousands of participating mailing services around the country.
