2 Liquid level switch Rugged instrument for monitoring specific liquid levels in open or pressurized tanks Operating principle The device operates on the float principle: A pivoted float attached inside the tank follows the liquid level and initiates an electrical or pneumatic signal when it reaches a specific position. The float position is transmitted to the switching device by means of a magnetic follower system, so that tank interior and switch housing have a pressure-tight separation. In the version with reed contact, the contact is actuated directly by the float magnet. 3 Range of application The liquid level meter is used in the chemical industry petrochemical industry power station technology water and waste water industry Product Overview Vibration To increase actuator travel, the float lever can be replaced by extensions (actuator travel extension Type D) of 100 mm (3.9 ), 200 mm (7.9 ) or 300 mm (11.8 ). The device with angled float lever (Type E) is suitable for vertical installation in the vessel. The float lever mount is protected against contamination and sticky or crystallising liquids. In the PP and PVDF versions, float extension and float are made of coated stainless steel with (ECTFE, epoxy resin, resistant to acids and solvents). Continuous, non-contact Switches Ultrasonic Radar Ultrasonic Buoyancy Capacitance To protect the float lever mount against contamination or from sticky or crystallising liquids, the swan-neck bend (Type W) is used. Min. product density 0.6 kg/l With the IF version, the interface between two liquids can be detected. The float sinks in the lighter liquid and floats on the liquid with the higher specific gravity. The two liquids must be immiscible, and the minimum difference in density should be 100 g/l (6.24 lb/ft 3 ). 7 109 (4.3 ) Types of limit switch Depending on application conditions, the liquid level switch can be equipped with different types of limit switch. These are actuated by the magnet system on the float. The type designation is extended by the relevant code letters. MS 15/MC The MS 15/MC limit switch is a microswitch that is actuated by a rotating magnet located in the housing. When actuated, this magnet is locked to the magnet system on the float. MS 15/RE, MS 15/RE/HT, MS 15/BRX These limit switches consist of bistable reed contacts that are actuated directly by the magnet on the float. Th switching state is maintained until the magnet system again actuates the limit switch in the opposite direction. IK-Ex/Z0, IK-F/Ex/Z0, IK-F/WB These limit switches are bistable inductive switches to NAMUR directives for intrinsically safe circuits, IK-Ex/Z0, IK-F/Ex/Z0 are approved for use in hazardous areas in EEx ib IIC T6 type of protection.
