1 FK 45 FOODGRADE 2-K epoxy resin coating Certified for direct contact with foods Product description is a highly resilient 2K high solid epoxy resin coating. Odourless, fast-drying, for internal areas. is particularly suitable for surfaces that are temporarily or continuously in direct contact with solid or liquid foods. is also recommended for coating ceilings and walls in production, refrigeration and storage areas. Ideal for any application in internal areas in which a certified and highly resistant hygienic coating is required. Properties Regulation / Certification Certified in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and Regulation (EU) 10/2011 for direct contact with foods. FK 45 creates a highly resilient surface with good durability against most of the cleaning agents that are normally used in the food industry. High level of abrasion resistance: UNE EN ISO :1999 Water impermeable. After drying fully, forms a waterproof film that is easy to clean. No absorption of water/non-swelling (avoidance of microbial contamination) In conjunction with the system primers FK 44 and FK 44-POX Corrosion Protection, DISPERLITH PRIMER and FK 16 Primer, is suitable for coating mineral substrates, metals, tiles, plastics, glass fibre and intact old coatings (e.g. epoxy coatings, emulsion paints). A sample application with a positive cross-cutting test of category 0-1 UNE DIN EN ISO 2409:2007 is specifically recommended.,in compliance with Regulation (EC) 852/2004, fulfils all current European Regulations for materials that come into contact with food. Additional Regulations for the certification of : Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, Regulation (EC) 2023/2006, Regulation (EU) 10/2011 of the Commission and its subsequent Alterations (EC) No. 1282/2011 in relation to plastic materials and objects that come into contact with foods. The criteria for the European market were standardised with the implementation of the European regulations. In these standards, among other things, a variety of simulants as well as global and specific migration tests were defined for every food group. The previous tests for took place with simulants A, B, C (OM2-40 C) and D2. All information about the tests carried out is contained in the manufacturer s declaration of conformity. Apply a minimum of 2 layers. For tanker coatings, silos and surfaces with a very high level of mechanical load, we exclusively recommend applying in white/grey with a coating thickness of 400µm. For other applications, e.g. as a ceiling and wall coating, the minimum coating thickness can vary between µm. The application / suitability / transferring to a property must be confirmed by a sample application. Drying period Relative drying periods : 111 µm wet layer- 100 µm dry (relative air humidity 60-70%) + 10º C + 20º C + 30º C Touch-proof h h 6-7 h Can be painted over h h 8-12 h Drying periods between coats are determined by coating thickness, temperature, relative air humidity and ventilation. The drying period between coats with FK 45 FOODGRADE should not exceed 48 hours. Containers for liquid foods: The coating in the colours white/grey exhibits complete hardening after 28 days for contact with liquid foodstuffs (conditions: 23ºC, 50% relative air humidity, coating thickness 400 µm dry). The lower the temperature and the higher the humidity and the coating thickness, the longer the ideal hardening period is. During the hardening period, an additional method of ventilation should be set up. Warm air accelerates hardening. Before filling a container with food, the coating must be cleaned with clear water. Maximum permanent temperature of a metal container in operation (internal side and surface): 40 C. Other applications: The coating exhibits good general properties after a hardening period of at least 72 hours. We recommend, however, exposing the coating to serious chemical and mechanical strains only after a minimum hardening period of 2 weeks. Substrates pre-treatment Substrate preparation in accordance with the German Construction Contract Guidelines (VOB). 5 moderately sucking or chalking surfaces with DISPERLITH PRIMER. Otherwise apply FAKOLITH FK 45 directly onto the mineral substrate. Sheetrock / Aquapanels: Primer coat with DISPERLITH PRIMER. A pre-coat with FAKOLITH FK 10, Disperlith Industry or another high-quality emulsion paint of wet abrasion resistance class 1 is recommended for an optimal visual painting. Alternatively, the substrate can be painted by the tinted dispersion color in colour as desired. Respective subsequent coating with FAKOLITH FK 45 transparent (2x) in Foodgrade quality. 2-K epoxy resin coatings Sample application absolutely necessary. Clean the surface and sand (>100 abrasive paper). Direct coating with. Powder coated substrates: Sample application absolutely necessary. Clean the surface and sand. Direct coating with if necessary. Substrates contaminated with moulds and bacteria: Clean with FAKOLITH FK 12, diluted 1:4 with water. Then prime with DISPERLITH PRIMER. Substrates contaminated with yeasts and bacteria: Clean with FAKOLITH FK 39. Then prime with DISPERLITH PRIMER. Substrates with impurities of grease, oil, soot: Clean with FAKOLITH FK 11, diluted 1:20 with water. Imperfections and cavities: Restore with FAKOLITH FK 13 Emulsion Filler. Unstable coatings: Remove and clean substrate. Apply DISPERLITH PRIMER. Stable emulsion paints: Clean substrate. Festigkeit der Altbeschichtung(en) erneut prüfen. Primer coats for substrates of metal/stainless steel/aluminium: - Without old coating: FAKOLITH FK 44 - with old coating: FAKOLITH FK 44-POX Both primers provide excellent protection against corrosion. 6 Tiles: Clean the tiles and sand. Remove dust and, if necessary, restore joints. Pre-paint overlapping the joints with + 5% FAKOLITH FK 45 dilution. After drying (minimum of 24 hours), re-coat with undiluted. Container paints: Containers which are filled with liquids, prime with FAKOLITH RM 40. Drying times RM 40 see technical data sheet. Recommended dry film strength RM 40> 160μ / m² (= 246 ml / m²). Subsequently apply FAKOLITH with> 400 μm dry thickness in several operations. This type of coating should be carried out exclusively by specialized companies. Pot life A + B (2,5 kg) 10 C 20 C 30 C Pot life 1 hour 45 min. 40 min. 20 min. A + B (5,0 kg) 10 C 21 C 32 C Pot life 1 hour 35 min. 35 min. 15 min. Application and processing Application: The substrate must be clean, dry and stable. The room and substrate temperature must not fall below +10 C and not exceed +30 C during application and drying. The surface temperature of the substrate that is to be painted should always lie 3 C above the dew point. Maximum relative air humidity during painting: 70%. Mixture: Stir components A and B separately. This process is important since both components are highly viscous in the rest condition. Subsequently, stir component B into component A slowly. Stir either manually or with the lowest rotation speed for approximately 2-3 minutes and then leave to stand for 2 minutes. Air should not be allowed to intermix. Dilution: The viscosity of the 2K epoxy resin coating varies depending on the storage and ambient temperatures. Low temperatures increase, high temperatures reduce the viscosity. Accordingly, we recommend setting the product on site with FAKOLITH FK 45 DILUTION. Addition for manual application up to max. 2%. In the case of dilutions> 2%, the risk of the coating expiring is particularly acute in the case of non-absorbent substrates. Important: Decant the mixture into a clean bucket for use. Possible residues of component A from the edge of the container could lead to faults in the film. Only stir the quantity of material that can be used within a period of 25 minutes (see the pot life). Manual application: Apply with a short nap roller (<= 5mm) or a paintbrush. Apply a minimum of 2 layers. The use of special paint rollers for solventcontaining 2K epoxy resin paints is explicitly recommended. Thoroughly wash and dry the roller before the application. Airless spraying: Application in a spraying procedure should be well planned due to the short pot life. Optimum spray results will be obtained with the SF23 Plus airless sprayer from Wagner using the AirCoat procedure. Nozzle 9/40 flat jet, spray pressure 200 bar. AirCoat data: Pistol AC 4600, air cap blue, pistol filter red, air pressure 4 bar, temperature 60 C, 5% FAKOLITH FK 45 Dilution. Other spraying devices should be tested. After the pot life has expired, a temperature of up to +80 C can be created in the unused mixture ( applies to containers> 5kg). Do not leave the container to stand unattended in an exposed area. Colours / containers Standard colours: White, grey (approx. RAL 7004), transparent. Other colors in FOOD GRADE Quality: From an order quantity of 5 kg: light ivory (approx. RAL 1015), light blue (approx. RAL 5012), oxide red (approx. RAL 3009). From an order quantity of 100kg: black (approx. RAL 9017), dark green (approx. RAL 6002), ivory (approx. RAL 1014), ocher brown (approx. RAL 8001), signal yellow (approx. RAL 1003), telegrey (approx. RAL 7047). Please note that these shades may result in longer delivery times. For the tinting of FAKOLITH FK 45 in FOODGRADE quality, we only use powder pigments tested for this purpose. These can only be added during the production process. In principle, the shading of FAKOLITH FK 45 with suitable color concentrates is possible. FAKOLITH FK 45 may not comply with the requirements of VO (EC) 1935/2004, VO (EU) 10/2011, Regulation (EC) 1895/2005 on products in direct contact with foodstuffs after addition of the color concentrates. In this case, a declaration of conformity can not be issued. Possible compatibility problems, should be excluded by previous sampling. Declaration of conformity Please request the conformity declaration at the factory. In the declaration of conformity, the delivery quantity and the intended use are determined for reasons of traceability and quality assurance. Please specify when ordering the declaration of conformity. Containers 2.5 kg and 5kg containers. Also deliverable in 7.5 kg containers to the location. Storage Up to 12 months from the date of bottling, in well sealed original packaging. It is recommended to store the product at a temperature of between 15 and 25 ºC. In the event it is stored at too cool a temperature, crystals could form in component A which will then dissolve again when the container is warmed up to 20 C. This is a reversible effect that does not have any influence on the quality of the product. Do not store under +12 C.
