14 Major technical trends in copper recycling» New copper applications require new recycling technologies.» Modern materials especially EOL combine values from multi-metals and materials - recycling must cope.» Miniaturisation results in less metal weight combined with more steel and plastic - recycling must cope.» Waste management regulations ( i.e. WEEE ) cover low and high value materials at the same time - recycling must cope.» Only large smelters and refiners can cope with new requirements in physical material preparation, metallurgy, multi metal values and growing environmental requirements. Copper recycling is increasingly being replaced by multi-metal / -material recycling
