2 Why Suppress Dust? Product Description DuPont s Dust Suppression range is a revolutionary state-of-the-art innovation engineered for today s challenging dust control problems. This ultra-pure, synthetic organic dispersion is formulated to meet the highest standards of environmental efficacy. DuPont s Dust Suppression range is distinctively odourless and is applied clean and simple. Furthermore, some of the range has the unique ability to be re-worked and still maintain its dust controlling properties. Most equipment capable of spraying water can safely be used to apply the range without any mess or damage to the equipment. The range can be applied under any dry weather conditions. The range can be applied to any dusty materials or aggregate and effectively suppress dust all year round. From stockpiles to rail wagons, the range is actively solving dust control challenges throughout the world s industrial, commercial and residential markets. There are many reasons for suppressing dust. The three main ones are: Environmental Problems Dust can contaminate the work place and dust fall out can extend for large distances from the source, causing contamination problems in surrounding areas. Water is often used for dust suppression. Using DuPont s Dust Suppression range instead of water can effect a significant saving of this scarce and valuable resource. Occupational Health and Safety Inhalation of dust particles of 10 microns and below are recognized as being a serious health hazard. Reduced visibility caused by dust in the atmosphere can create hazardous working conditions for vehicles and operators. Fine particles 10 to 20 microns can constitute a dust explosion risk depending on the nature of the material involved. Loss of Material Wind erosion during transport or from stockpiles can result in the loss of material. Whilst this impact on operating costs is not currently seen as a factor in determining dust control strategies, there is never the less an economic benefit in reducing material loss.
