The backend Star schemas and Cubes Took data from operational systems and allowed facts and dimensions to be defined speeding up calculations for cubes which in turn pre-cached common calculations for previous generations of BI tools The frontend Query on click - pre-agreggated Reporting front-ends leverage cubes to return pre-aggregated results. Each user selection entails a query on the cube database or star schema. New user requirements will requie additional facts & dimensions in the cube.
