2 Mining pipelines Principles pipelines in mines are technical systems which are constantly used mainly for dewatering mines or slurry transport. Mining pipelines from TRM critical systems require integrated solutions Pipes used in mines must usually handle high pressures, daily changes of PH-values or chemical composition of the water. Furthermore an outstanding difference to other typical pipelines applications (f.e. drinking water pipelines, turbine penstocks) is the needed flexibility to make changes in the pipenetwork once the pipeline is in operation. Beside this focus on easy maintenance there is also a high contribution to safety at work. The pipes must be able to function reliably in every situation that can occur f.e. massive soil settlements, earthquakes. 5 The right coating Protecting the mechanical advantages of the ductile cast iron pipe Ductile cast iron pipes are supplied with internal and external coatings. The right coating maintains the superior mechanical properties for decades. The most important influences when choosing the right coating are: transported fluid soil and groundwater corrosiveness grain size of the bedding material temperature of the fluid ambient temperature installation method influence of electricity currents Different cement mortar linings are available for the internal coating depending on the fluid, for instance, for particularly soft or acidic water. Beside different PH values the almost daily change of grainsizes of sediments has an high influence on the pipeline lifetime. A worldwide unique synthetic modified cement mortar lining is an exclusive customized solution with sophisticated acrylat dispersion developed for mining pipelines.
