1 Team Leader-NCS Job Pack Job Title Programme Developer (Team Leader) Job ID JOB Country Bangladesh Employer VSO Duration 12 months Job purpose The purpose of this assignment is to work with the VSO Bangladesh in National Citizen Service Project in the rural area of Bangladesh focusing on youth empowerment (special emphasis on livelihoods and health) considering the need and context in the community by building the life skills and leadership skills in the community. The team leader will lead the team to analyze context and Support and lead the national volunteers for achieving the project outcomes. Provide postural support and motivation to the volunteers Keep close communication with the Project Coordinator and Partner organization Plan and organize the programme and take decision jointly with the counterpart team leader. Work very closely with Youth club, Volunteers, partner and VSO staffs to plan, implement, and evaluate youth action projects in the community. Support conducting project design, project planning, marketing, linkages with local government Institutions, Service providers, Govt. departments and private sectors and organize the event and Community Action Day. Facilitate youth clubs for mobilization, monitor project outcome, case study collection, report writing, documentation and evaluation of the project. Awareness raising to Youth, partner and community on SDG and how to achieve specific goals and monitor by linking other actors. Page 1 September 2014 Template

Job Description Responsibilities Key Performance Indicators Competencies Skills and Knowledge Volunteer Support To provide adequate support and supervision of volunteers and team throughout the programme cycle. Promoting and encouraging appropriate behavior and ensuring compliance with safety security, Code of conduct and other policies of NCS. Volunteers receive at least one predeparture session with Project coordinator to set personal development goals Volunteers receive minimum of three face to face supervisions sessions for support with adapting and working effectively on the programme The following are taken from VSO's competency framework: Working together Strength: Successfully leads teams and develops others team-working skills Facilitation Promoting learning amongst volunteers on global and intercultural issues through the delivery of training and learning tools and supporting youth-led and on-placement training throughout the programme. Support host home and placement organization hosting volunteers with promoting learning, crosscultural engagement, and relationship building. Programme Development Support Assist VSO Programme Manager and partners with programme design and identifying appropriate stakeholders and partners for programme delivery as and when required. Essential Youth Work Proven experience of working with and providing support to year-olds from a wide range of backgrounds with proven ability to facilitate learning in a non-formal environment Cross-Cultural Working Direct and substantial experience of working cross-culturally and able to communicate to a range of audiences and promote sharing and learning between cultures International Development Knowledge of issues which are common to communities in developing countries, possibly achieved through working or living in a developing country. Experience of promoting learning about development issues. Communication Possession of strong verbal communication to work effectively and inclusively with an overseas colleague. Strong written communication skills needed for writing reports. Supervision Significant experience of working in a supervisory role. Programme briefing information for volunteers reflects PS inputs Project report submitted in accordance with ICS M&E framework Leading for the future Aware: Is enthusiastic about VSO s work lives VSO s values and is open to new ideas Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation To update project stakeholders on project progress, including the reporting of medical and safety and security incidents. To gather data and produce a project report in accordance with the programme M&E framework. Support volunteers to produce case studies capturing impact Budget Management Together with project supervisor manage the project budget, submitting monthly reports to the partner and country office. Incident reports submitted to country office and Medical Unit where appropriate Programme stakeholders receive regular updates Monthly reconciliation reports submitted Project comes in within budget Thinking strategically Aware: Understands the context of own role; considers the impact of own work on others.
