JASA TIRTA I PUBLIC CORPORATION Gov t Reg. No 46 of 2010 : Brantas R.B and Bengawan Solo R.B Presidential Decree No. 2 of 2014 : Toba Asahan R.B, Jratunseluna R.B dan Serayu Bogowonto R.B
ISSUES IN THE RIVER BASIN - TECHNICAL Lodoyo Dam Wlingi Dam Sediment Bypass Channel
ISSUES IN THE RIVER BASIN - SOCIAL GARBAGE ACCUMULATION AT RESERVOIR Composition of Garbage in Sengguruh Reservoir Time Garbage amount (kg) Rubbish garden & plants Wood Rubber Plastic Glass Source: UNITRI, 2016 Strengthening community awareness related to clean river
Conservation of water resources are created through the protection and conservation of water resources, preservation of water, water quality management and water pollution control. PJT-I conservation activities ( ) Year Check-dam Planting Total
Conservation strategy of water resources in the river basin: 1) Conservation activities is done in cooperation with the relevant authorities and Non Governmental Organization (NGO) such as greening activities involving communities to plant and maintain trees, while the provision of seeds and coaching is done through cooperation between PJT I non-governmental organizations. Building small check dams or gully plug and water infiltration and sediment control structure.
Conservation strategy of water resources in the river basin: 2) Conducting socialization or counseling which done routinely to the community which lives in the area along the river, around the reservoir and also for the general public. Socialization/counseling is usually done PJT 1 in cooperation with NGOs, relevant agencies and academics, about the importance of preserving the environment.
Composting using waste and garbage sorting (Surabaya River Case Study)
Conservation strategy of water resources in the river basin: 3) Water Quality Monitoring in the river main stream from sources of pollutant by doing river patrol with related agencies. WATER QUALITY MONITORING STATION ALONG BRANTAS RIVER River patrol in Surabaya River with related agencies to suspected pollutant sources
Conservation strategy of water resources in the river basin: 4) Raising awareness of the importance to maintance the environment condition and conduct water quality using bioassessment targeted to the high school students with Water Quality Monitoring Communication Network (Jaring Komunikasi Pemantauan Kualitas Air/JKPKA). Students as young generation should be involved in activities related to river health and ecosystem in order to have their awareness to conserve water and environment for sustainable water resources. Senior High Schools Communication Networks for Water Quality Monitoring in the Brantas River Basin, East Java, Indonesia was established by PJT-I in cooperation with State University of Malang and teachers from senior high schools in Brantas River Basin on June 27, Vision: To promote schools that have awareness to water resources, river and environment. Mission: To coordinate the members activities on raising awareness to water resources, river and environment.

Case Study from the Composting Waste and Garbage Sorting in Surabaya River: Activities phases consists of: 1. Socialization As a wake up call and mind set changing of garbage or waste 2. Establishment of Environment Ambassador Involving local community and NGOs 3. Providing the equipment for sanitation (as a stimulant) - Household scale composter or communal ; - Garbage cart, trash bin/can procurement in the public areas; and - Composter center development. 4. Training - From enviroment academia, environment activist achiever etc. - From local NGOs or society whom concern about the environment 5. Mobilize community involvement in environment quality improvement Providing incentive or rewards for increasing competition to be the best.
CONCLUSION AND LESSON LEARNED The evaluation of succesful watershed conservation activities are relatively quite difficult to analyze. By setting objectives and applying tools can be useful to perform optimization and evaluation of the activities. The involvement of the community play an important roles of the successful conservation activities especially for those who lives in upstream area. Give guidance and guideline, not just fund to ensure the sustainability of the activities. Evaluate and gaining feedback from participant and community to improve methodology and sustainability of the projects.
