4 UNDP-China: On going projects related to Energy and climate change examples End-Use Energy Efficiency Programme The End-Use Energy Efficiency Programme (EUEEP) aims to remove barriers to the widespread application of energy conservation and efficiency in China's major energy consuming sectors - buildings and industry. Renewable Energy Carry out a resource base inventory for renewable resources; Identify market potential and investment opportunities; Improve access to information for decision-makers; Develop national capacity for standardization and certification of technology; Demonstrate technologies with near and mid-term market potential. TVE Energy creating institutional mechanisms for barrier removal at the national, county and enterprise level; b) establishing incentives and monitoring systems to strengthen existing regulatory programs at the county level; c) building technical capacity for energy efficiency and product quality improvement in TVEs
5 Key Activities: Cross Team Approach 1. Prepare quick mapping on environment and MDG/poverty UNDP support, identify areas specifically for cross team support 2. Contribute substantively to programme formulation to stress environment/poverty/mdg nexus 3. Participate and provide advice to reviews and assessment on programmes/outcomes from poverty-environment nexus perspective 4. Identify and share resource persons/consultants experienced in environmentpoverty issues/programmes 5. Hold thematic discussions on environment-mdg-poverty 6. Organize joint review of key programme outputs or knowledge products 7. Identify possible joint events on MDG/poverty-environment 8. Join programme workshops or events requited synergy built up 9. Partner with related UN theme groups and establish substantive linkages

Channel carbon finance to the potentially excluded majority Objective To reduce the impact of global warming promote socio-economic development in remote or poor areas To met the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

12 UNDP Project: China s Provincial Response Strategies for Climate Change Intended Outputs Output targets Indicative Activities Output-1 Institutional building for addressing climate change at local levels, for inter-agency coordination Organization and establishment of local institutions for addressing climate change; Output-2 Training courses about global climate change and local implications 3 training courses for three provinces respectively; 3 Workshops to be organized for three provinces respectively; Output-3 Gathering and collection of the relevant data and information about each province Surveys and data collection; Output-4 Formulating the local response strategies for three selected provinces Seminars, and working meetings to discuss over the formulation of draft response strategies; Drafting the reports for local response strategies of addressing climate change; Print reports and compiling the whole reports; Translation of summary report and submission to the UNDP and Norwegian government.
