Challenge- Electric generation structure unreasonable Installation capacity: > 1140GWe, Generation: ~5.0 Million GWh Nuclear Power only about 15 GW < 1.3% for installation and < 2% for power generation while winds > 63GW and solar > 8 GW. 9 2. Challenge---high Pressure from develop. And Public The haze weather is mainly caused by unreasonable energy structure, and has a lot of bad effects to people s healthy. Nuclear Power Development Strategy On Oct.24,2012, Chinese government issued a Mid to long term nuclear development plan( ),which has decided GIII AP1000 technology and its successive re-innovation technology as future trends of nuclear power. The approval for new NPP resume 在建 (Under construction,gw) 在运 (In operation,gw) I do believe there are more rooms in nuclear power development in China if all 8 GIII units are successfully operated as we are in the urbanization, we have environment pressure from public and society, we have the advanced technology GIII and GIII +, investment and enough manufacturing capability

11 3. Nuclear Power Development Strategy 1. For new NPP application of construction permit before 2015 Ensure the gaseous and liquid effluents have no unacceptable impacts on the environment and the public when the nuclear reactors are under normal operation or accident conditions. G-III technology will be used. 2. For NPP application after 2015 The possibility of significant release of radioactive material should be truly and physically eliminated by design approaches. Most advanced safety standards, most advanced technology and most strict discharge will be imposed. -11-

New projects approval after Fukushima Accidents Confirmation of five already approved units before Fukushima and stopped by four State Council Requirements. Such as project of HTM, two projects of second unit of twin units(fuqing unit 4 and Yangjiang unit 4), project of TianWan Phase II in ~4 projects would be expected to be approved among Haiyang Phase II, Sanmen Phase II, Lufeng Phase I, Xudapu Phase I, Yangjiang 5&6 in The final result depends utility efforts. Most would use AP technology. Similar number of projects would start construction afterwards every year before

AP1000 construction AP1000 Self-Reliance project for Sanmen and Haiyang: basic engineering design, equipment manufacture opening items has been finished, no subversive technology and engineering risks exist. But troubles and difficulties from new equipment manufacturing and qualification are really hard FCD in March 2009 and CVTH placed on Jan Power generation expected in Oct FCD in September 2009 and CVTH placed on Mach , Power generation expected in Dec 2014.

CAP1400 development CAP1400 National Large Advanced PWR key Project 中国 16 个国家重大专项之一, 目标是建成 CAP1400 示范堆 One of 16 Chinese National Key Project, The most important goal is to construct the CAP1400 demonstration NPP. 电厂经济性和安全性高于 AP1000 The plant economy and safety of CAP1400 should better or not be less than AP1000. CAP1400 在转让的 AP1000 技术基础上进行创新 CAP1400 is an innovation based on the transferred AP1000 technology.

CAPs development scheme road map to GIV CAP-S:SMR,core power less than 300MWe CAP-M:GIII passive nuclear power plant model with the core power from 300 to 900MWe CAP-L GIII passive nuclear power plant model with large core power, such as CAP1000 CAP1400 CAP-XL:GIII passive nuclear power plant model with the core power beyond 1700MWe To meet various demands of utility and grid.

24 8. ACP and ACPR ACP is a three loop PWR with fuel assembly. The nuclear power is 3050MWt and electric power 1110MWe. The ACP is an innovated design based on M310, CNP600 and CNP1000. The major design performance of safety and operation is targeted to achieve the G-III with the utilization of active and passive technology combined. ACPR is also a three loop PWR with fuel assembly. The safety system will have three train of 100% safety function. ACP and ACPR will supplement or serve as the backup of the nuclear power development.
