Includes meetings with European Mayors, business leaders and politicians to find out how they are doing it, and share experiences on leading and driving change

Households who produce energy guaranteed right to sell this to grid at fixed prices for 20 years This has created a surge in the production of clean energy

10 Denmark Lowest energy consumption per unit of GDP in the EU Highest proportion of electricity generated by renewable sources & world's most efficient clean-coal technology. 20% of energy needs met by wind power, & proportion steadily increasing Advances in technology and turbine design have reduced costs by 75% since programs began in 1970 Danish companies manufacture 40% of the world's wind turbines, backed by extensive research programs for decades

11 UK UK has 30-40% of the total wind resource of Europe, theoretically enough to meet the electricity needs of the country several times over The Environment Agency gets all its energy from renewable resources, saving over 17,500 t CO2 per annum (~ emissions from 2,100 homes) London Boroughs of Merton and Croydon adopted targets for on-site renewable energy technologies in their Local Development Frameworks UK s renewable energy association promoting this model amongst all local planning authorities
