2 Robert T. Burns, Ph.D., P.E. UT Extension Assistant Dean and Professor 120 Morgan Hall, 2621 Morgan Circle Knoxville, TN Robert serves as Extension Assistant Dean and Professor of Agricultural Engineering with the University of Tennessee. As Assistant Dean Robert works with a team of Extension specialists and county agents that deliver agriculture, natural resources and community economic development educational programs through 95 county Extension offices across the state of Tennessee. Prior to being named as Assistant Dean, Robert served as a Professor of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University, and led the Iowa State University Agricultural Waste Management Team. Under Robert s leadership, this team conducted applied research and extension programming focused on animal manure and agricultural waste management that included work on air emissions monitoring and mitigation, manure and nutrient management and anaerobic digestion. Dr. Burns has given over 500 professional presentations, published over 230 technical publications and conducted over $7 million in funded research dealing with manure and air quality management. Robert currently serves as a member of the United States Department of Agricultural Air Quality Task Force and the United States Environmental Protection Agency Farm Ranch and Rural Communities Committee. He also chairs the National Pork Producers Council Pork Air Science Policy Advisory Committee. Dr. Burns holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering, MS in Environmental Engineering, and PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Tennessee and is a registered professional engineer.
3 Barry Kintzer, P.E. Consulting Engineer 9393 Marlbourne Way Mechanicsville, VA Barry has 38 years of experience as an agricultural and environmental engineer for the USDA/NRCS at all levels of the agency. He retired from his position as National Environmental Engineer, NRCS National Headquarters, Washington D.C., in Since retirement, he has continued to work in this field as a consultant. Barry recently spent three years providing NRCS with guidance on implementation of EPA Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations related to fuel storage and handling on farms and has reviewed over 800 SPCC plans prepared for agricultural producers by other professional engineers. He received his BS degree in agricultural engineering from Pennsylvania State University and has done graduate work in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Illinois. He was one of the members of the original group that developed the CNMP Core Curriculum which has been used extensively to train technical service providers in development of CNMPs. Barry is a registered professional engineer in Illinois and Virginia.
4 Roberto C. Maisonnave, Ag. Eng., M.Sc. AmbientAgro International Consulting Director Av. Ejército Argentino 9520 (5147) Cordoba, Argentina Roberto is the Director of AmbientAgro, an International Environmental Consulting Company, currently assisting farmers, government officials and companies through Professional Environmental Engineering Consulting Services. He assists the largest Swine Farms in Argentina, along with large scale confined Dairy operations, Beef feed yards and Poultry producers. Simultaneously, Roberto is a consultant with the Argentinian Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Production. Roberto is also a lecturer with the University of Buenos Aires Magister of Science Program and participates in several research projects and thesis with the Faculty of Agronomy. For the last fifteen years, he has been related to Environmental Science & Engineering with main focus in water, soil, crops and air quality. Roberto worked over 10 years with Seaboard Foods Inc., the second largest pork producer in the United States, providing technical leadership for the Environmental Resources Management Department with 300+ Swine Farms and 4 Million pigs in four different States. In this role he achieved multiple Environmental Certifications as Nutrient Management Planner, Certified Odor Classifier, Public Water System Operator and Certified Crop Adviser. A respectful and intensive professional relation with State Regulators gave him the opportunity to aid in the development and update of critical Manure Management Plans with the State of Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma. His main fields of expertise are: Nutrient Management and Agronomic Utilization of Animal Manure along with Planning and Design of Advanced Animal Waste Treatment Systems. Roberto is an Agricultural Engineer graduated in 1998 from the University of Buenos Aires, and an Environmental Sciences Master s degree from the same university (2002).
5 Ben Puck Puck Custom Enterprises, Inc th St. Manning, Iowa office cell Ben Puck, President of Puck Custom Enterprises, Inc. (PCE) started land applying liquid manure for his neighboring animal producers in As animal production in Iowa grew, so did his business. The company now handles 210 million gallons of liquid manure each year for hog producers and dairy farms in Western Iowa. Successfully finding an efficient way to transport large volumes of liquid safely and cost-effectively was in credit to Ben's original equipment designs and the company's quick adoption and development of new technology. Puck Custom Enterprises now manufactures a full line of nutrient handling equipment and trains and teaches best practices to operate these systems.

Manure application specialist Department of Animal Husbandry Kralja Petra Svacica 1d Osijek Hrvatska Croatia mob: (0) robert.bionika@gmail.com Dr. Spajić is presently employed as a Professional Associate for the University of J.J. Strossmayer Osijek, Faculty of Agriculture in Croatia (FOA). His work with FOA in the Department of Animal Husbandry is focused on agricultural mechanization and the environmental impact of livestock production. Prior to working with the University he spent 16 years in the real production sector. His last position was as a member of the management board in the agricultural company Žito d.o.o., a large scale agricultural integrator. Before becoming a member of this board he was employed for seven years as a director for swine production in the Agrokor Company. His focus was on developing large commercial swine production systems in Croatia, including waste management projects on large scale livestock operations. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnical Science and Agricultural Engineering, from University of J. J. Strossmayer, Osijek in Croatia. Dr. Spajić also served as an external adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture of Croatia in the process of adjusting Croatian agricultural laws to meet European Union standards as Croatia prepares to seek membership in the European Union. Prior to working for Agrokor Company Dr. Spajić worked for Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) for four years as an extension agricultural consultant on USAID agricultural development projects in Croatia. Dr. Spajić has also been employed on several large scale dairy and beef operations and led the development of several large scale dairy operations in Croatia. He has worked on projects in Croatia, USA, Germany, Finland and Italy. He was a Fulbright Scholar as a scientist at Iowa State University pursuing his doctorate degree in Biotechnical Science and Agricultural Engineering with a focus on waste management, fermentation processes and biogas plant engineering. He is a member of ASABE American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and a member of Fulbright alumni. He is also a member of the Croatian Agricultural Society and the Croatian Association of Court Entrepreneurs. In his 16 years of work experience he has published more than 20 scientific papers and conducted numerous public presentations focused on livestock and waste management issues. Presently he is a member of the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the European Commission involved in programs for Nitrate Directive, Industrial Emission Directive and Environmental Impact of Livestock Production.

Curtiss Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) and Animal Science at Iowa State University, Iowa Egg Council endowed professor, and director of the Egg Industry Center located at Iowa State University His research and extension programs focus on air quality relative to animal production; animal-environment interactions with regards to animal bioenergetics, behavior and welfare, and production efficiency; and livestock and poultry housing systems and environmental control. Dr. Xin s scholarly accomplishments include author/co-author of 158 refereed journal articles (a total of over 500 technical publications and presentations); PI/Co-PI of $21 million in contracts and grants; mentor of 60 graduate students, post-docs and visiting scholars; delivery of over 88 invited talks in 15 countries. He serves on a number of academic, industry and government scientific advisory boards or task forces at state, national and international levels. Professor Xin received his B.S. degree in agricultural engineering from Shenyang Agricultural University (China), and M.S. and PhD degrees from University of Nebraska (USA). Before joining ISU-ABE faculty, Dr. Xin spent 3.5 years as a Post-doc Research Associate at University of Arkansas conducting broiler housing research.
