2 CWRs & Landraces in Europe General Information Check-in and documentation The check-in can be done at secretariat located near the entrance/exit 'A' of the University of Madeira (view map). The documentation will be delivered to participants on Monday, 13 th September, from 08:30 to 12:30. Lunch Lunch will be served in room '3' for all participants, from Monday, 13 th to Wednesday, 15 th. There will be also available lunch on Thursday, 16 th for participants of the ECPGR In Situ and On-farm Network Meeting. Information for Presenting Authors Oral Communications Please hand in your presentation on a USB Pen-drive (flash-disk) to the secretariat staff on time (preferably during check-in) in order to transfer it to the computer in the auditorium in advance (before each session start). Oral communications will be 20 minutes long (15 minutes presentation + 5 minutes for questions and answers) except for the Honorary Lectures that will have duration of 25 minutes. The organisation ask to presenting authors to fulfil their presentation rigorously within the considered times to avoid any delay. All posters must remain until the end of the symposium - 15 th September. Note: material for mounting or hanging posters is available at the secretariat desk - only Tesa Power-strip is allowed to hang posters.
3 activities guide Madeira Wine Welcome Reception The Regional Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Manuel António Correia, has the pleasure to offer to all delegates the Madeira de Honra (Madeira Wine tasting) that will be held at the Institute of Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft on Monday, 13 th. This Institute is about 2 minutes walk from the symposium venue - view map. Symposium Dinner The Symposium Dinner will take place at the Hotel Escola da Madeira, on Wednesday, 15 th. Transport from the Symposium venue will be provided. Symposium Half-day Excursions Visit to Madeira Botanical Gardens The half-day excursion will be held at the Madeira Botanical Gardens on Monday, 13th, after lunch, during the afternoon. The Madeira Botanical Gardens have become Madeira Island's most treasured and certainly most famous tourist attraction. Within an area of 80,000 square metres you will encounter a truly fascinating collection of more than 2500 plant species. If possible there will be also a visit to the local and traditional Market Place located in Funchal down town. 3 Visit to Ilhéu do Desembarcadouro (for Project AEGRO membres only - maximum 8 persons) Project AEGRO members will have the opportunity to visit the Ilhéu do Desembarcadouro in the eastern side of Madeira Island, where Beta patula occurs - a rare endemic species inhabiting two of the islands of Archipelago of Madeira, including the Desertas and Madeira island itself. This tour will be carried by sea with the collaboration of the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira. The organization will make available a small snack for all participants on leave to the halfday excursion. All participants that sent their complete personal data are covered by excursion insurance. Those that did not send data are also welcome to participate in the excursion but are not insured. The organization and the University of Madeira will not be held responsible for accidents or injury sustained during the excursions.
