3 STATE INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE EXTENSION AND TRAINING () THE INSTITUTE:The State Institute Extension and (), Bhadbhada Road, Barkhedi Kalan, Bhopal (M.P.) is setup in 00 by the Farmers Welfare and Development, Govt. Madhya Pradesh. The is located in a seven acre campus in the municipal area Bhadbhada Road, Bhopal0 (M.P.), 0 Km. away from Bhopal & Habibganj Railway Station and also Bhopal Nadra Bus stand & ISBT, Habibganj. The campus provides an ambience the functional efficiency with modern and comfortable infrastructure and services. The greenery sprawling lawns, colorful seasonal flowerbeds and density trees all over the campus highlight the institute's proximity with nature. It was initiated as a State response to address various challenges in delivery services to the farmers. To provide adequate flexibility operation, the Institute was registered as an Autonomous Society under the Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act 9. The mandate is to assist the and Allied s to help improve their delivery systems through up gradation skills Extension Personnel. State Institute Extension & () is an apex institute for Extension and for agriculture and allied departments. In order to ensure regular training and skill up gradation State and / Block level extension functionaries and for reaching out to the grass root level extension functionaries and farmers through field visits for Implementation Extension Reforms Schemes () in State M.P. The Institute undertakes various activities such as, Consulting, Documentation, Third Party Monitoring, Impact Study different projects on their needs and function as information dissemination centre. As a part the training activity, it conducts a series training programmes, workshops, seminars and study visits various categories personnel on key theme areas as appropriate in the present context. 4 undertakes specialized tailor made programmes, depending on the need the organization, based on request on payment basis. The is also conducting Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) for Extension functionaries in distance learning mode and Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) a one year diploma programmes which imparts formal agricultural education to the input dealers franchise with National Institute Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. The activities cover all the stake holders in agricultural development including public private sector organizations, voluntary organizations, farmers organization and groups, private extension consultants, agribusiness organizations and cooperatives apart from State M.P. MANDATES : To work as State Nodal Agency for Implementation Agricultural Extension Reforms Scheme. To work as an apex institute for Extension and for agriculture and allied departments. To organize training programmes for various cadres agriculture and allied departments as per their training needs. To organize skill development training programmes for extension personnel. To prepare project plan and documentation. To provide consultancy for implementation various schemes and programmes in agriculture and allied sector. To disseminate agricultural information's for sustainable agricultural development. To organize workshops and seminars. To prepare and publish literature, audio, video and small films in agriculture and allied sector. To do impact evaluation study for various implemented projects as per requirement. To organize study visit programmes for extension functionaries agriculture and allied. The Institute has organized a two days Need Assessment (T.N.A.) Workshop on dated February, 08 participating with the senior ficers, extension functionaries from and allied departments, Scientists and representatives from other management institutions to find out the training needs for extension functionaries for their respective departments. 43 POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN AGRICULTURE EXTENSION MANAGEMENT (PGDAEM) There has been a shift in focus from subsistence to commercial agriculture thereby increasing the farmers need for advanced technologies. The demand on the public extension system for dissemination uptodate technology called for up gradation both technical and extension skills extension functionaries. The present day extension functionaries performing multifarious activities besides extension work are not adequately equipped to shoulering the responsibility for effective delivery agriculture information. In order to pressionalize to public extension service for effective delivery extension services, a post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) has been launched for the agriculture extension functionaries. It is expected that the diploma holders would form a pressional cadre farm advisors to take forward the agenda agriculture extension. The programmes, launched on th October 00 for the public extension functionaries in distance learning mode, is sponsored by and Cooperation, Ministry, Government India. The programmes would cover the extension personnel from the districts where Technology Management Agency () have been established and functioning. Course Objectives To enhance the technomanagerial competence extension functionaries To acquaint the extension functionaries on the latest developments in the field agriculture and allied sectors To equip the extension functionaries in latest tools and techniques for participatory decision making and To develop an insight into various extension models to enrich the agrivalue chain The programmes is open for extension functionaries agriculture and the departments employed in the State/Central/UTs sponsored by the. The duration the programmes is one year spreading over two semesters with thirtytwo credit load. In each semester, contact classes will be held at SAMETI/ an identified institute within the State. The programmes is conducted in distance learning mode supported by printed study material, contact classes, provision econtent and assignment. 44 DIPLOMA IN AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICES FOR INPUT DEALERS (DAESI) There is a wide gap between technical know how and field level do how particularly in the fields small farmers, marginal farmers, share croppers, tenants and farmers belonging to scheduled casts and scheduled tribe communities. Public Extension System alone is not sufficient to make our agricultural sector keep pace with the world agriculture system. The National Agricultural Policy and th Plan approach paper have stressed on the need for reforms in agricultural extension the country. The Ministry, Government India emphasized on Multi Agency Extension Services such as Multi National Companies, Corporate Bodies, Voluntary Organizations, Farmers Associations and Input Dealers etc. Among all the agencies, Input Dealers/agencies in larger in number and spread even in interior areas the country. Unlike other approach Input Dealers for their requirements i.e. Inputs, Credit etc. There is a large network about.8 lakh Input Dealers in the Country, who are the important source Farm Information to the Farming Community. Nearly 90% the AgriInput Dealers operation in our country do not have any formal Agricultural Education. These input dealers seldom realize the implication "Laws related to handling Agricultural Inputs. They are basically businessmen and know about different market forces. If they are transformed as parapressionals by providing required knowledge, they can make market Led Extension, a reality thereby bringing a paradigm shift in Indian. MANAGE has designed a one year Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI), which impacts formal agricultural education to the dealers so that they can couple their business with extension services besides discharging regulatory responsibilities.
