Genopole has embarked on a strategy of making suitable and attractive premises available to companies and laboratories with three objectives in mind: watching over a spatial coherence within the Evry-Corbeil urban area (near Paris) in order to create a harmonious campus; offering space adapted to scientific needs at market prices; and setting up common services. Service infrastructure, technological, logistic and real estate support covering about 86,000 sq m (926,000 sq ft). Genopole has always focused on one essential mission: providing the best conditions for developing research and business projects.

3 Linking Science to Business Foster the development of biotech companies Genopole contributes actively to the creation of biotech companies by hosting entrepreneurs with innovative projects and offering them logistic, technical, managerial and financial support. Genopole provides support to start-up companies during their early years and thus optimizes their chances of success. Finally, Genopole is strongly involved in the economic development of Evry by encouraging life science businesses and major pharma companies to expand or relocate to the campus. 7 Center of Excellence Biomanufacturing at Genopole Biotech companies often run in trouble when trying to produce their lead molecules. In order to resolve this situation and facilitate the development of life science businesses, Genopole is creating a biomanufacturing center in partnership with Mabgene company, an acknowledged specialist in GMP biomolecule production. It will offer companies and academic labs custom production of preclinical and clinical batches for phases I & II with quick turn-around times and competitive prices. In light of its choice of top-class bioreactors and filtration systems, the unit will equally be able to meet the requirements of pharmaceutical companies. All production operations will meet ISO 9001 standards and comply with GMP regulation. The center will open at the end of MediTech Healthcare Competitiveness Hub MediTech Healthcare (MediTech Santé) is a world class competitiveness cluster dedicated to the use of hi-tech in pharmaceuticals and healthcare. Thanks to decisive support from the Ile-de-France Regional Council, the region s General Councils (including that of the Essonne county) and Paris City Council, the MediTech Healthcare project has truly managed to federate all the Paris Ile-de-France region s stakeholders in the field of life sciences and healthcare. The hub s presidency has been entrusted to Jean-Claude Muller, senior Vice President of the Sanofi Aventis group, and Pierre Tambourin, Chief Executive of Genopole, has been elected Vice President. Six themes of excellence (neurology, oncology, infectious disease, medical imaging, molecular & cellular medicine and drug sciences & technology) have been chosen and will lead to collaborative projects between the public and private sectors. A new research hospital A university medical center will be created within the new hospital due to be built at the heart of the Evry-Corbeil campus. This development will promote synergy between researchers, entrepreneurs and clinicians and will also help transform the fruits of Genopole based fundamental and applied research into innovative medical therapies. The establishment of this new hospital (due to open in 2010) will favor the implementation of a skills spectrum linking life science researchers, bio-entrepreneurs and medical practitioners. The objective is clear: rapid transformation of research results into innovative medical therapies.

8 The Genopole Contacts Thierry Mandon, President of Genopole Pierre Tambourin, Chief Executive of Genopole Françoise Olier, Deputy Director of Genopole Véronique Dufey As the holder of a degree in Business Law from the University of Paris II and a Higher Degree in Finance from the Paris Business Administration Institute, Véronique Dufey has experience of two different facets of the world of start-ups. During her 5 years at the Crédit d Equipement des PME public-sector development bank, she was responsible for funding investment programs in small industrial businesses. In 1997, she founded one of the first ever companies to specialize in selective waste recycling on industrial sites. Véronique joined Genopole Entreprises in June 2001 and took over the leadership of the team in Patrick Faure With a PhD in immunology applied to public Health, Patrick Faure was appointed as Assistant Director of the Virology & Immunology Laboratory at the Cité Louis Pasteur in Brazzaville (Congo) to set-up research and diagnostic laboratories with the perspective to follow-up infected HIV and/or malaria patients. After his mission in Africa, he complemented his scientific background with a diploma in International Business Management at Paris Business School (ESCP). Patrick then joined the Genopole -Entreprises team in 1998 and has also been awarded a Certificate in Intellectual Property Promotion by the French Patent and Trademarks Office (INPI). Eric Lameignere Following his PhD in natural product chemistry at France s National Center for Scientific Research and some initial research experience at Rhône-Poulenc Rorer in the UK, Eric Lameignere completed his training with an MBA from the Euromed Business School in Marseille, France. Prior to becoming a business development director in a biotech startup, Eric spent more than ten years in big pharma, with a particular focus on the development and evaluation of biotech-pharma alliances. Eric joined Genopole Entreprises in September Cécile Ruiz-Fouquer As a graduate of the Higher Institute for Technology and Management (Noisy-le-Grand, France) and holder of a Diploma from the French Society of Financial Analysts, Cécile started her career as a biotech analyst at Close Brothers Equity Markets in Paris. She then took a position as a biotech analyst at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey International Limited in London, prior to joining the Genopole team in January Anne Walrafen Anne Walrafen is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and acquired solid research experience during her PhD in neurobiology at the city s Salpetrière Hospital. During this time, she also provided teaching support for undergraduates at University of Paris VI. Anne then worked as a scientific analyst in the biotech VC department at Société Générale Asset Management, prior to holding a post as a junior business developer manager at ExonHit Therapeutics (also in Paris). Anne joined Genopole Entreprises in April Nicolas Godard Nicolas Godard graduated from the Paris-Grignon National Institute of Agronomy with a degree in Agricultural Engineering (option: Microbiology). He spent the first 8 years of his career managing R&D projects in yeast genetics within an international agrifood group, in close collaboration with its main overseas subsidiaries. Nicolas then completed his training with an MBA from the HEC School of Management in Jouy en Josas (France), after which he moved into the provision of consultancy services to budding entrepreneurs in the field of biopharmaceuticals. He joined the Genopole Entreprises team in January Marina Bunelle After training as a business translator at the Catholic University of Western France in Angers, Marina Bunelle obtained a Higher Degree in Finance at the Nantes Business Administration Institute and then worked as a consultant on setting up and running European Union-funded projects.
