7 Business Case Allocation of indirect costs / Profitability analysis Many companies struggle with the allocation of indirect costs / cost supporting department to cost centers (or to profit centers). The correct and meaningful allocation of such costs is however essential for a profitability analysis down to the product level. This is applicable for budget and actual scenarios. The allocation of the IT costs is a good example of such a business case.
