12 Benefits: Better Plants Challenge Results Leading manufacturers and plants are working with DOE through the Better Plants program to: Improve their energy intensity, usually by 25% over ten years Develop energy management plans Track and report their annual progress The average energy intensity improvement rate has exceeded the 2.5% per year benchmark rate required to stay on track with the program s long-term 25% goal.
