8 Core Principles of CBM Shared Information Eliminates duplications in info requirements each information only needs to be submitted once Allows all personnel have the info they need to do their work effectively Shared Resource Reduces costs through sharing resources between different agencies NII equipment, inspection bays, offices, IT systems Co-location allows everyone to work under one roof, enhancing communication and availability Shared Work Agencies empowered to assist each other. E.g. customs empowered to conduct checks on behalf of CBRAs, in a joint border post, customs from either country can clear imports / exports Shared Responsibilities Common sense of purpose and vision among all agencies at the border. 16 WCO DM USE WORLDWIDE S P M IP NA Total Number of Countries % of Total Number S: Information systems used by the Member have been checked for conformance. Tables showing conformance with the WCO Data Model have been shared with the WCO Secretariat P: Projects involving the use of the WCO Data Model are underway or have been completed. M: Mappings of data elements of national information systems with the WCO Data Model have been produced and (in some cases) shared with the WCO Secretariat. IP: A "My Information Package" has been published by the Member. (Since this is recently introduced concept, Members are still working on it). The WCO is continuing to develop and fine-tune an inter-active guidance tool designed to help Customs implement the TFA.
