The challenge Unfortunately it was a regular occurrence, that during assignment of the MAC address an OS image with faulty hardware drivers was installed, that could then not be booted. Since, however, an operating system was installed it was not possible to make a new boot request. An analysis carried out by the customer showed, that, in almost all cases, the cause was incorrect hardware drivers. As a result expensive technicians had to be deployed on site. The solution The ManageNow Plug&Play driver database creates a separation between the OS image and the manufacturer-specific drivers. This enables the customers to identify for themselves, which PC model is on the boot servers. The corresponding OS image to be installed can then be automatically generated using a generic OS image and the drivers available on the database. The customer s benefits Using ManageNow allowed the on-site deployment of technicians required because of the faulty OS images to be reduced to virtually zero.
