1 SAP Big Data(VORA) Workshop VUPICO conducted SAP Big Data (SAP VORA) workshop in collaboration with SAP. It is the first time, SAP has held a Big Data workshop in Tokyo (Japan) to create awareness about SAP VORA and to highlight how it can bring benefits to your organization. Turnout was excellent with more them 50 SAP clients showing up to better understand SAP Vora and how it can be implemented. As you might have noticed, SAP has removed HANA keyword from SAP VORA to clarify that it is a stand-alone product that can run on all major Hadoop distributions. The workshop started with Christoph Streubert from SAP explaining about Big Data and talked about various challenges faced by the customers due to explosion of volume of data collected and sources of data. He then explained how SAP Vora can tackle those challenges and help clients collect, store and most importantly turn that data into actionable insights.

2 SAP showcased VORA and it s distributed in-memory computing capability that can help organizations uncover actionable business insights from Big Data. It fits perfectly well in the Hadoop software stack covering major types of databases as well as providing visualization capabilities through VORA modeler.

3 SAP cited some of the top reasons to choose VORA- 1. Integrated Solution- Combine relational, time series, JSON and graph processing. 2. SQL Access- SQL access to relational, time series, JSON, and graph computing engines 3. Intuitive Interface- Web interface with SQL editor, data browser, and drag-and-drop to interact with VORA computing engines 4. Open Consumption- Open framework supports data integration via JDBC, OData and Restful Services 5. Metadata Persistence- Enabled by Distributed Transaction Log that can be recovered when needed 6. Business Semantics- Out-of-the-box hierarchy processing and currency conversion 7. HANA integration- High-performance interactive analytics across enterprise data in HANA and Hadoop data SAP also discussed about some of the Customer use cases: 1. Predictive Maintenance- Moving from regular service of appliances to whenever needed. 2. Compliance Analytics- To comply with government regulations, store historical dat in VORA that will keep your data available at low cost. 3. Smart Meter Analytics- Processing petabyte of data generated by smart devices effectively and fast. You can run built-in scenarios on SAP VORA free of cost by registering on the following

Simon Vukojevic (CEO, VUPICO) gave a brief introduction about VUPICO and the expertise our team brings to the table. He demonstrated how business value can be derived from Big data to ensure ROI and the key decisions that needs to be made to achieve it. He also explained the approach to be followed to build SAP big data platform by starting small while keeping the big picture in mind. I then explained the benefits of combining Hadoop and SAP HANA with some business use cases. I also explained about installation, configuration and development on VORA and how to access it in SAP HANA.

5 We talked about couple of business cases where we utilized the capabilities of VORA and the business benefit achieved as a result. We shared our experiences and the lessons we learnt while implementing VORA for our customers. Overall, it was a great session and the audience was very enthusiastic to know more about the evolving technologies and how to keep their business remain competitive in the market.
