Upgrade Approaches Based on the Organisation & their existing systems, HCL recommends from the following upgrade approaches: Standard Approach: In this approach, scripts are run in the current release of the PeopleSoft instance to upgrade it to higher release. Data conversion is done using PeopleSoft delivered scripts. This is a preferred approach if the data to be converted is not too large, structural changes in the two releases are significant. Manual Approach: All operations related to upgrade are done manually i.e. no standard script or process delivered by PeopleSoft is being followed to upgrade. All customisations /modifications are done manually on the target database. In this approach, all gaps are identified and filled manually. This approach is generally used when the standard path is not available or the customisation level is too high, and the differences are low between source and target versions. Hybrid Approach: This approach is a blend of the standard and manual upgrade approach. Standard approach, wherein PeopleSoft delivered processes are used for Tools upgrade and the Manual approach is used for the application data upgrade.
