3 Our Goal The European ATM Masterplan defines our vision and goal, oriented on the challenges provided in the Flightpath 2050 vision. Support smart economic growth for Europe. Support provision of effective remedy to air transport capacity bottlenecks. Support the reduction of CO 2 and other environmental sensitive areas. Support the increase of safety. Support the reduction of costs. 3

Increasing Efficiency by enhancing collaboration between airport stakeholders; increasing situation awareness of key decision makers; reduction of friction of fragmented planning & optimisation; provision of support tools and functionality; and enhanced information integration around Airport Operations into the Network. 4

8 Previous SESAR Research Phases Definition Phase A two year user driven study involving all ATM related stakeholders. Resulted in the European ATM Master Plan Development Phase A seven year R&D project managed by the SESAR Joint Undertaking Based on the Master Plan, development of: new operational procedures, new technologies and pre-industrial components and standards Deployment Phase Implements the results of the development phase, designed to deliver the performance increase foreseen in the ATM Master Plan

12 PJ.04 TAM: 2 Solution Projects Solution PJ "Enhanced Collaborative Airport Performance Planning and Monitoring" Full implementation: airport is fully integrated into the overall ATM Network Solution PJ "Enhanced Collaborative Airport Performance Management" Full implementation: airport is at the forefront of performance-based management informed operational decisions taken based on highly reliable information and problem analysis capabilities. 13 Understanding the need for Solution PJ The stakeholders need more and reliable information about the current and future situations (weather, traffic development, other impacting events). They need answers to What will be the impact of the weather we are facing? Who is affected? What is the overall effect on the Airport? What options do we have, what would be the best choice? What happened in the past, how did we decide and what was the outcome? Was it a good decision? What environmental options do we have to solve our situation or can we adjust operations to provide less environmental impact while maintaining our performance? 15
14 Goal of Solution PJ The overall goal of solution PJ is to further enhance the collaborative processes, information level and situation awareness in airport management, with the focus to provide performance management capabilities and in the APOC, by provision of innovative APOC support tools and by Airport-Network integration and collaboration. 16
15 What to develop in Solution PJ The Stakeholders need What-If tool capability to explore the best possible solution ( optimal ) in a given/expected degraded situation for a Total Airport Demand and Capacity Balancing (TA DCB) In case different options are feasible, these need to be explored by the stakeholders and weighted according to their priorities and goals, judging trade-offs; Have a slim process / approach to not encumber the decision making process beyond necessity; Balance the different resources at the airport according to priorities and performance degradation potential; Have more exhaustive data exchange between all actors including the Network Manager and Airspace Users. 17
