5 BIM Definitions BIM Building Information Modeling Building Information Model is a set of processes applied to create, manage, derive and communicate information among stakeholders at various levels, using model created by all participants to the building process, at different times and for different purposes, to ensure quality and efficiency throughout the entire building lifecycle. is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a facility.it is composed of digital objects corresponding to the real world components such as doors, walls, and windows with associated relationships, attributes and properties.

File format created to exchange files between CAD programs gbxml: The Green Building XML open schema facilitates to transfer building properties stored in BIM models to perform energy simulation IFC: Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) are the open and neutral data format for openbim developed to facilitate interoperability in AEC industry, and is a commonly used collaboration format in Building information modelling (BIM) based projects.
