1.0 INTRODUCTION AND EXECUTIVE SUMMARY We are pleased to introduce our firm, Khatri International, Inc., to your organization. Khatri International Inc. is a minority owned engineering company based in Pasadena, California. Our project experience covers general building design, structural engineering, seismic design, structural tower design, civil engineering and infrastructure work including pipeline, reservoir design, flood control facilities, storm drain, water pump stations, and construction management aspects. For a more complete background, please visit our website: 3 Page
2.0 Dr. KHATRI KHATRI INTERNATIONAL, INC. Dilip Khatri, PhD, SE Responsibilities: Qualifications: Provide expert consultation services related to Seismic and Structural Analysis, Project Management, Structural Design, and overall project direction. 25 years of professional civil engineering experience involving structural analysis, construction management, infrastructure design. Professor of Civil Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona from Licenses: PE # in California SE # 4391 in CA General Contractor B in CA Education: PhD Structural Engineering, USC, 1998 MBA, Finance, USC, 1988 MS Structural Engineering, CALTECH, 1985 BS Civil Engineering, CAL STATE LA, 1983 Books: Publications: Structural Design of Masonry Design, published by ICC, 2004 Masonry Problem Solver, published by ICC, published articles and papers in various ASCE journals, Structure Magazine 4 Page
3.0 EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS KHATRI INTERNATIONAL, INC. Figure 1: Khatri International, Inc. have prepared numerous rooftop solar panel installation designs. We have experience in every necessary design step, including: 1. Evaluation of the existing roof structure 2. Design of the roof top solar panel connection 3. Seismic and wind design considerations 4. Provide structural drawings, design calculations, and engineer's stamp. 5. Processing for approval and permit. 5 Page
Figure 2: Khatri International, Inc. has worked in the Wind Tower industry designing wind towers for 10 years. These projects involve large scale steel tubular tower structures worth $100 Million dollars per project. Khatri & Cruz, Inc. develops structural designs, cost estimates, and works directly with construction teams to assure these towers are built in accordance to design plans and specifications. 6 Page
Figure 3: We have extensive experience in Finite Element Analysis and Structural Solutions for complex components and structural design. Khatri & Cruz, Inc. and our predecessor firm Khatri International, Inc. have been working with sophisticated Finite Element Software programs to perform Linear, Nonlinear, Dynamic, and Plastic Analysis of various buildings, towers, and structures for 20 years. We are proficient in the following FEA packages: 1. COSMOS 2. ANSYS 3. ETABS 4. RISA-3D 5. ULARC- Collapse Analysis Software 6. SAP2000 (linear and nonlinear packages). 7 Page
Figure 4: Khatri International, Inc. has designed pipeline support structures and worked with local water departments. 8 Page
Figure 5: Khatri International, Inc. has worked with the Nuclear Power industry to develop seismic and blast analysis of reinforced concrete Nuclear Towers. These Blast Resistant Enclosures (BREs) were designed using nuclear shock wave analysis for towers up to 60m tall. This work was done under the direction of The Washington Group and in conjunction with Patrick and Henderson, Inc., in Page
Figure 6: Dr. Khatri has written two books on Masonry Design and seismic retrofit methods. This book is published by the International Code Council ICC.. Figure 7: Dr. Khatri wrote this book with specific examples and problem solving methods for Masonry and Seismic Design, published through ICC. 10 Page
Figure 8: Khatri Int., Inc. designs and constructs its own projects. We are also noted for preparing very elaborate detailed scale models of our projects. This is a 12,500 sq. ft. private residence currently under construction in Bell Canyon, CA. Figure 9: Khatri International, Inc. designed and built this 6,100 sq. ft. private residence in beautiful Monterey, CA. 11 Page
MESA VISTA HOA Mesa Vista HOA retained Dr. Khatri and Khatri International Inc. to provide structural and civil engineering expertise for reconstruction of 289 units in 88 buildings. The HOA had several intricate structural retrofit issues comprising of seismic deficiencies, construction defects, structural design problems, missing fire walls, and civil engineering issues. The civil engineering issues involved drainage, landslide, deep seated failures, water migration, settlement, and subsidence. This project entailed 5 years of professional services and total construction cost of $10 Million. Dr. Khatri recommended several solutions that reduced the final scope of repair to a manageable budget and reduced the total reconstruction effort to the primary key items for making the buildings sustainable 12 Page
Shoppers World EQ Damage: A 200,000 sq. ft. storage building that was severely damaged in the 1994 Earthquake. Dr. Khatri worked on the structural investigation, analysis, damage assessment, scope of repair, and final design of reconstruction plan. Anaheim Stadium Scoreboard Sign Collapse: The Sony Jumbotron sign collapsed after the 1994 Northridge Earthquake due to seismic shaking. The cause of loss was investigated and a damage report was issued for the insurance carrier. Valencia Fairways HOA EQ Damage Case: This project entailed 304 units in Valencia that were damaged from the 1994 Earthquake and previous construction and design defects. The scope of loss report was prepared by Dr. Khatri and the construction defects addressed in subsequent repair plan. Dr. Khatri was the Engineer of Record for the reconstruction. Palm Desert Resorter HOA Construction Defect Case: Dr. Khatri worked with the Palm Desert Resorter on their construction defect post reconstruction plan. The scope included civil engineering road reconstruction, seismic upgrades, floor slab repair due to cracking, soil subsidence, and water proofing issues. HOA Case Work: Dr. Khatri has worked with large Home Owner Associations on their repair, maintenance, and reconstruction efforts in Palm Desert, Malibu, and Orange County to provide civil engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical, construction management, and reconstruction expertise. These case assignments entail the full spectrum of design and construction issues including drainage, hydrology, soil subsidence, structural defects, seismic upgrades, mold, termite damage, and cost estimating for reconstruction. 13 Page
