2 Starting with miscellaneous jobs at Greek houses on the campus of the University of Alabama over 25 years ago, WAR Construction, Inc. has become the leading general contractor on campus for the Greek system. 3 Construction Services As a general contractor, WAR has access to architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to assist in planning, budgeting, and scheduling property improvements. With both experience and familiarity to Greek projects, WAR is a fast and efficient turn-key source. WAR provides property assessment of existing structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing conditions with recommendations for repair or improvement. With knowledge of code and compliance issues, we can help cut the red-tape in administrative tasks such as filing for fees, licenses, permits, institutional approval, and insurance discounts or claims. Finally, knowledge of current trends in Greek housing coupled with our previous project history provides our clients with both cost and time savings.
4 Life Safety, Code Compliance and Energy Management At the heart of any Greek property is concern for the safety of its members and their guests. Previous WAR projects have included asbestos abatement, fire sprinkler systems, fire doors, emergency evacuation plans, electrical system upgrades, security locks and cameras, and ADA accessible walk ways, elevators, restrooms and showers. WAR can also help provide maintenance on equipment, such as kitchen hood and exhaust systems, grease traps, dryer venting, and heating and air conditioning equipment. Additionally, we can assist in designing solutions for energy management to prolong the lifecycle of systems and control the cost of operating them. 5 Repairs Greek properties exist to provide the amenities of a residential lifestyle with the functions of a small group, on-campus dorm and dining hall. This unique structure, paired with management by a private, volunteer-led board, make Greek properties function like a private hotel in the middle of a University campus. Frequently, boards are consumed with wear and tear repair projects that occur as time, weather, and residents have left their mark.
