1 Atro Proof standard Universa one coat DPM Nomina thickness 250 microns Technica and instaation data sheet October 2016 Product description Atro Proof standard variant is a singe coat, high-buid epoxy surface damp-proof membrane for appication to substrates with high moisture content, isoating residua construction water and aowing eary instaation of moisture sensitive foor coverings. An effective singe coat appication provides protection across a range of moisture contents from reative humidity of more than 75% to 97% wet, (surface-dry). Atro safety fooring, resin systems, smooth viny and rubber foorings are universay suitabe for instaing directy over Atro Proof standard. Typicay Atro safety, smooth viny and rubber foorings are used in conjunction with a water resistant eveing screed which may in norma circumstance be appied on the same day. Suitabe water resistant smoothing compounds may be appied beneath Atro Proof standard. When used with Atro safety fooring, resin systems, smooth viny and rubber foorings as part of the Atro system, the Atro Proof standard guarantee matches the product Atro Proof standard guarantee. Guide coverage Not more than 18m 6 kg per unit. A minimum thickness of 250µ must be appied. Materia usage is dependent upon temperature, surface profie and porosity; the stated coverage rates shoud be referred to for guidance ony and cannot be reied upon to determine exact quantities. We do not recommend exceeding 3m 2 /kg. Storage Ensure that the product is received in good order. Store in a dry, frost-free environment and condition to between 15 C and 25 C for at east 24 hours before aying. Excessivey high and ow storage temperatures wi affect the appication and performance of the product. Suitabe substrates (resin fooring) (When used beneath resin systems) Atro Proof standard is an effective primer for a Atro resin systems. Where the substrate has been fuy satisfied with Atro Proof standard it sha repace additiona system primers providing the overayment period has been foowed. A aspects of the instaation must be in accordance with the requirements of BS (Synthetic resin foorings Code of practice). Suitabe substrates (resiient fooring) (when used beneath viny and rubber and other non-resinous synthetic overayment) Atro Proof standard may be appied to a variety of substrates incuding concrete, poymer modified screeds, fine concrete, sand and cement screeds, cementitous terrazzo, granoithic stone, eveing screeds / surface smoothing compounds. If there is a requirement for improved substrate uniformity, then where it is consistent with the intended foor finish and timetabe a suitabe, water resistant smoothing compound may be appied prior to the appication of Atro Proof standard, at a depth of not ess than 3mm and in strict accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations In fast track projects, where eary instaation of the foor covering is the priority, it is generay preferred that suitabe water resistant eveing compounds are appied to the hardened Atro Proof standard soon after the minimum overayment time, in strict accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations. In order to achieve good adhesion it is important not to exceed the maximum overayment period of the Atro Proof standard. Where the maximum overayment time is exceeded an additiona coat wi be necessary. A aspects of the instaation must be in accordance with the requirements of BS8204, BS8203 (Instaation of Resiient foor coverings).

3 Under foor heating Under foor heating must be commissioned a minimum of 7 days in accordance with BSEN and BS the heating must be tested and restricted to a maximum surface temperature of 27 C (see BS8203 and BS5325). Under foor heating must be turned off for 48 hours before and after instaation. FeRFA, The Resin Federation, does not recommend Cacium Suphate, Anhydrite or Hemi-hydrite screeds for overayment with synthetic resin surfaces Substrate requirements On substrates iabe to direct hydrostatic pressure e.g some basements, ow ying buidings, in the absence of an integra DPM, a more substantia instaation may be required. Substrates shoud be dry, structuray sound and free from contamination, friabe materias, aitance and contaminants which may affect either the adhesion or penetration of the Atro Proof standard variant. A residues of od paint coatings and dust must be fuy removed mechanicay in order to achieve maximum adhesion. Substrates to achieve 26N/mm² compressive strength (BS EN :2001) and surface tensie strength 1.5N/mm² (BS EN :2002). New ground supported concrete shoud incorporate an integra physica functioning DPM within the construction in accordance with buiding reguations. Concrete foors must be constructed in accordance with the British Standards BS8204 Part 1:2008 Code of Practice. The sab shoud preferaby be a minimum of 21 days od and the moisture content shoud be measured and recorded - RH of up to 97% (when measured using a hygrometer in accordance to BS 8203:2001). Substrate preparation Surface preparation is the most vita aspect of resin fooring appication. Inadequate preparation may ead to oss of adhesion and faiure. The substrate in question wi dictate the method of preparation. A surface contamination, od coatings, oi paint rubber and chemicas shoud be thoroughy removed in order to achieve a sound stabe interface with exposed aggregates. In the case of a concrete foor, preparation by dust encosed diamond foor grinder may be appropriate, or if of a sufficient area for economic reasons, shoud be ighty shot basted to eave a textured surface free from contamination. If the foor has been treated with a cementitious surface improver, then the surface shoud be prepared in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations, or abraded with an STR machine foowed by thorough vacuuming. Treatment of oca repairs such as cracks and hoes, improvement or modification of eves and remova of high spots, shoud be undertaken prior to the fooring instaation. Thin coatings wi refect the surface texture. High spots may ead to oca under-thickness and reduced performance. Excessive profies as a resut of inappropriate surface preparation may significanty affect appication, coverage and performance. NOTE: Specia care shoud be taken where contaminants are present that may be detrimenta to the bond ine in terms of penetration and degradation i.e. moud reease, ois, acids and sovents. Acid etching is NOT an appropriate method of preparation to receive Atro Proof standard. Pease consut Atro or FeRFA s Guide to the Specification and Appication of Synthetic Resin Fooring for further guidance. Panning Before proceeding with the instaation, carefu consideration shoud be given to determining the best way of instaing the Atro system, and optimise the open time of the product (i.e. minimise the distance between mixing and aying). It is best to aso consider the effect of externa infuences on the fina instaation (i.e. direction of ight from windows etc.). Appication The foowing appication guide is based on aboratory, simuated site conditions and experience. However, when instaation conditions differ appreciaby from those detaied by Atro, the performance characteristics of both mixing and aying may vary. To achieve the best resuts at a times pease endeavour to estabish the correct site conditions which in turn wi aow the materias to be aid effectivey, and meet your customer s expectations.

4 Instaation conditions Appy in we ventiated areas. Both the sab and air temperature shoud be greater than 10 C and up to 25 C. It is not advisabe to mix and ay Atro Proof standard outside the range 10 C to 25 C. Room temperature shoud be estabished and stabiised 72 hours before, during and after. Ambient conditions shoud be maintained at east 3 C above dew point or beow 75% RH during the initia stages of cure. At site temperatures above 30 C, appication is not advisabe. It must be recognised that the concrete sab temperature wi generay be ower than the air temperature, often by as much as 10 C, and this wi govern the rate of cure. As the resin fooring cures, in condensing conditions moisture vapour may condense onto the surface and cause booming, which may adversey affect adhesion. Cod, wet or humid conditions, and imited airfow, can resut in condensation on the part-cured foor. Mixing equipment Sow speed dri ( rpm), such as MM17 * Mixing padde, such as MR2 60B * * A too number references reate to Refina Ltd Product instaation Ensure that the correct PPE is worn at a times. Using a sow speed dri and padde thoroughy mix the base coour for 30 seconds. Pour a of the hardener into the pre-mixed base and mix for a further 4-5 minutes. Ensure the materia is fuy mixed around the sides and bottom of the container. (Vigorous mixing shoud be avoided as this can ead to bubbes and pinhoes). If the mixing area is not adjacent to the aying area the time required to transfer the mixed materia wi reduce the open instaation time. When fuy mixed, immediatey pour a the mixed materia onto the foor in a ribbon. Use a 2mm x 5mm notched trowe or dense foam rubber squeegee to distribute the materia eveny then use a ow-oss medium pie synthetic roer that has been pre-wetted with Atro Proof standard to uniformy and fuy treat the surface. Check that sufficient materia and the minimum thickness has been appied. Aow the Atro Proof standard to cure and carefuy inspect the appied fim for defects i.e. pinhoes and areas of under thickness. If necessary, appy additiona Atro Proof standard ocay. Aow curing for the minimum overayment period prior to the appication of a water resistant eveing screed or appy the foor covering using a suitabe water resistant adhesive. Joints A joints shoud be treated with a suitabe fexibe jointing compound e.g. Atro Expand which has been pre-primed with Atro Proof standard. Protection Whist of an extremey durabe nature these foor systems must by thoroughy protected from damage during ongoing contractua works. Atro Proof standard shoud not be breached mechanicay in any way. The resin foor shoud reach fu chemica cure in 7 days at 20 C. Untreated fet paper wi suffice as protection from ight traffic, however if protection is required from other trades then the foowing protection option shoud be considered. Where heavier access is required then a more suitabe medium to take the oadings, such as shuttering py or Correx by Cordek, shoud be paced on top of the untreated fet paper. No poyethyene sheets, inseed-treated hardboard, print or dyed card shoud be paced in contact with the resin surface. A joints in the protection medium shoud be taped, and a accidenta spiages shoud be recovered immediatey by remova and reinstatement of the protection. Damage wi occur to the system if the advice given above is not foowed. Ceaning (during instaation) A toos and equipment shoud be reguary ceaned using Atro Sove EP to reduce buid up and maintain the quaity of the instaation. Ensure that the correct PPE is worn at a times. Disposa Due diigence must be adopted if accidenta spiages occur. Recover using absorbent granues, transferring into a suitaby marked container. Disposa of a empty containers and accidenta spiages shoud be in accordance with the oca waste disposa authority. Adhesives (Resiient foor coverings) AtroFix 19 Pus (Two-part Poyurethane) is the preferred adhesives for use in conjunction with Atro Proof. AtroFix 365 Pressure sensitive acryic may be suitabe for direct overayment when used with the dry ay technique. Water based adhesives shoud be used in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions on impervious surfaces.

5 Handing and storage The materia described herein shoud be stored in a dry pace between 5 C and 25 C, and conditioned to between 15 C and 20 C for a minimum of 24 hours prior to appication. A components shoud be protected from water and frost. Given the above and that the materia are kept in the origina, seaed containers, a shef ife of 12 months is to be expected. Pease refer to the most up-to-date technica documents, incuding safety data sheets, for the Atro resin variant prior to beginning your instaation.
