Increasing energy efficiency through improved insulation Typical End Uses Spray Insulation Stepan s unique chemistry leads to superior insulation and flammability resistance, critical requirements in the construction industry. Spray formulations containing STEPANPOL polyols are also easier to process due to low polyol viscosity and improved blowing agent solubility. Typical End Uses Furniture & Bedding The addition of Stepanpol polyester polyols enhances mechanical properties resulting in higher quality foams, less scrap, and easier fabrication. This allows for the manufacture of more durable furniture, and in turn, more satisfied customers. Automotive Foams Our patented chemistry increases the bonding strength of foam to textile and nonwoven fabrics. The increased adhesion enables better shaping and provides the cushioning, vibration and sound reduction properties essential for automotive headliners. Stepan supplies both aromatic and aliphatic polyester polyols for use in flexible slabstock polyurethane foam applications. Stepanpol aromatic polyester polyols improve flame lamination bond strength and increase mechanical properties in polyether foams. Our aliphatic polyester polyol product line contains branched adipate polyols designed for specialty polyester foams. 8

Typical End Uses PUR Hot Melt Adhesives Stepanpol polyester polyols allow formulators the versatility in PUR hot melt adhesive applications to improve green strength, creep resistance, substrate bonding profiles and to modify open time. Applications include fabric laminating, woodworking and product assembly. Flexible Packaging Stepanpol delivers superior hydrolytic stability under acidic and basic conditions, improves flexibility, extends pot life and promotes adhesion to a variety of commonly used substrates. Insulating sealant One component foam (OCF) formulators choose Stepanpol aromatic polyester polyols for in-can stability, fire retardancy, adhesion to a variety of substrates and costeffectiveness. STEPANPOL aromatic polyester polyols are specifically engineered to meet the diverse and demanding requirements of the C.A.S.E. industry. Stepan has developed a line of high quality polyester polyols based on ortho-ester linkages. By using phthalic anhydride as the building block, Stepan polyols deliver enhanced hydrolytic stability and adhesion to diverse substrates while improving abrasion resistance and overall hardness. Common end uses include liquid and hot melt urethane adhesives, flexible packaging, insulating sealants, polyurethane dispersions, thermalbreak, cast elastomers, and energy-cure and conventionalcure coatings. 10
