3 REPORT TO: Crystalite Skylites 3307 Cedar Street Everett, WA STARTING TEST DATE: 08/25/2009 ENDING TEST DATE: 09/09/2009 TEST METHOD: ASTM E Standard Test Method for Determining Rate of Air Leakage Through Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls and Doors Under Specified Pressure Differences Across the Specimen. ASTM E Standard Test Method for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors and Curtain Walls by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference. TEST PURPOSE: To achieve the requirements for Air Leakage Resistance at 300 pa (6.24 psf) and Water Resistance at 1440 pa (30.00 psf). DESCRIPTION OF SAMPLE TESTED MODEL/TYPE: CONFIGURATION: FRAME SIZE: FRAME TYPE: JOINT CONSTRUCTION: 4843 Series 6 Lite Skylight. OOO/OOO 1283 mm (50 1/2 ) wide by 1892 (74 1/2 ) high. Extruded aluminum. All corners were mitered, welded and sealed. The top cap was spliced and sealed on the interior at each intermediate vertical member on the long dimensions. GLAZING COMPONENTS: OVERALL: GLASS THICKNESS: SPACER TYPE/SIZE: GLAZING SYSTEM: ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION: MOUNTING DESCRIPTION: 25 mm (1 ) nominal. Two panes of 3.0 mm nominal tempered. 19 mm (3/4 ) nominal aluminum. All glass was set against a double sided foam glazing tape on the upper leg of the interior frame and retained with a double sided foam glazing tape and a rivet connected cap on the exterior side. Extruded aluminum weep hole covers were utilized over each weep hole. These covers were inserted under the top cap and sealed on the top and sides with silicone sealant and left open at the bottom to allow water drainage. See drawings for details. The test sample was mounted on a test curb made from 51 mm (2") wide by 152 mm (6") wood. Curb tape was applied to the top face of the curb. The skylight was attached to the curb around the perimeter using four 38 mm (1 1/2") long screws per long dimension and two 38 mm (1 1/2") long screws per short dimension at approximately 635 mm (25") on center, for a total of twelve. All testing was performed at a 2/12 pitch. S Page 4 of 14 E0A0 4

4 TEST PROCEDURE: All pressures were applied from the interior side of the test chamber, acting inward for Positive Pressures (Downloading). The Water Spray Rack consisted of four water spray nozzles positioned 1219 mm (48") above the exterior face of the skylight. These nozzles were spaced 1219 mm (48") apart and each nozzle supplied a 1219 mm (48") cone matching the required calibrated water spray application of 5 gallons per square foot per hour. All testing was performed with the skylight set at a 2/12 pitch. Note: No further descriptions are possible due to the unavailability of the test sample for cut up. Deflections in structural members shall be limited to L/175 under fully loaded conditions, per ASTM E 330 at 150% of positive and negative wind load design pressures for a duration required by design wind velocity without assembly evidencing material and deflection failures or permanent deformation of structural members exceeding 0.2% of span. a. Compliant to International Building Code, section 2405 Sloped Glazing and Skylights. b. Compliant to UFC / ASTM F 2248 for blast resistant design. 2. Air infiltration per. Air leakage shall not exceed 0.06 cfm/sq. ft. of assembly surface when tested with a pressure of 6.24 psf. Compliant to IECC Air Leakage. 3. Water penetration per ASTM E 331. No water penetration when tested with a pressure differential of 30.0 psf. System designed to drain migrating moisture occurring from condensation to exterior through weep drainage network. Compliant to International Building Code, section Weather Protection. 4. Allowance for maximum expansion caused by surface temperature range differential without causing detrimental effects to system or components. For a temperature range of 100 F degrees, maximum expansion shall be less than 0.25 inches per 20 lineal feet; for a temperature range of 170 F degrees, maximum expansion shall be less than 0.43 inches per 20 lineal feet; which is within limits of design. Submit full scale shop drawings indicating methods of construction, location and spacing of anchorage, joinery, finishes, size, shape, thickness of framing members, relationship to adjoining work and glazing materials used DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials to site in manufacturer s original and unopened packaging with parts manifest. B. Store on site in a location and manner to avoid damage. Stacking should be done in a manner that will prevent damage. Store material in a clean, dry location away from high traffic areas. Any protection on the skylights during transportation should remain until installed. C. Keep handling on site to a minimum. Exercise caution to avoid damage to finishes of material. B. Glazing Materials 1. Insulated Glass Units a. Dual seal silicone insulated glass units. 1" OA IGU, Temp / Lam, Clear / Clear, Cardinal LoE 366(2) and Argon Gas Fill. Glass thickness as required by the span and loads. a) Laminated glass shall include a minimum interlayer thickness of 0.030" i) Compliant to IBC and Screening. ii) Compliant to UFC criteria for Conventional Construction Standoff Distance per ASTM F 2248 b. 10 2.05 GLAZING ACCESSORIES A. Glazing tapes per ASTM D 1667, 2240, All other gaskets, setting blocks, and other materials used in glazing shall be of a type, quality and compatibility to provide performance of the skylight(s) covered in this section. B. Silicone sealant per CAN/CGSB M87; TT-S A/ASTM C 920, Type S, NS, Class 25 use NT, G, A&O test requirements ACCESSORIES A. Glaze-In Venting Skylight 1. Venting skylight shall be operated by Solar Smart: radio remote operated, battery powered, solar charged, chain drive operator system. Requiring no power draw from the power grid FABRICATION A. Skylight(s) shall be factory fabricated and preassembled in largest size assemblies possible with considerations for shipping and jobsite handling. B. Skylight(s) shall have properly designed weep systems for drainage to exterior. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Framing shall be installed and glazed by experienced workmen in accordance with the approved shop drawings, manufacturer s instructions and glazing standards CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Subsequent to installation of skylight(s) the General Contractor shall be responsible for the cleanup and protection of all materials provided per this section, including, but not limited to glazing materials and framing members. No abrasive materials of any kind shall be used in cleaning of skylight surfaces WARRANTY A. Glass Glazed Skylights 1. CrystaLite glass skylights are warranted against manufacturer s defects for a period of ten (10) years from date of purchase. Insulated glass units shall carry a ten (10) year warranty against delaminating, seal failure and deterioration of low-e coatings. Where field glazed, the installer shall be responsible for glass to frame seal. 2. A minimum pitch of 2/12 is required for all glass skylights. Any modification and/ or changes to our skylight system without the written consent of CrystaLite, Inc. will render the warranty null and void. B. Plastic Glazed Skylights 1. CrystaLite thermoformed plastic skylights are warranted against manufacturer s defects for a period of five (5) years from date of purchase. 2. CrystaLite skylights glazed with Lexan polycarbonate multiwall sheet shall have a ten (10) year prorated warranty from date of purchase. C. Stipulations 1. Warranty replacement units will be remanufactured in the same size and description as the original units only and does not include removal of defective unit or installation of replacement unit. Warranty period will remain in effect from the original date of delivery. Warranty orders will be chargeable items with proper credit given upon return and inspection of original item. D. Operator Hardware 1. Solar Smart products are warranted against defect in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from date of purchase. 2. All Truth Hardware products, with the exception of electrical products, are warranted against defect in materials and workmanship for a period of ten (10) years from date of purchase.
