3 Company History Mitchell Builders began in New Zealand 1972 by Keith Mitchell (3rd generation) Carpenter Builder. Based in Whangarei from the beginning the company has specialized in very high quality construction of all manner of buildings including large and small homes, specialized renovations and commercial projects. Mitchell Builders has been a family business for 4 generations. The company's origins began on the Norfolk - Suffolk borders, England in the early 1900's. The company still operates today from the same area in a small village called Pulham St Mary by Robert Mitchell (3rd generation) Master Mason. The type of projects undertaken has never changed; rebuilding and renovation of 16th century buildings, through to new homes, village halls and farm buildings. John Mitchell (4th generation) Carpenter Builder now sole owner and Managing Director runs the business from our office but is also one of the key contact people on site, hands on, working with all the other trades people, customers and owners. Gemma Mitchell Handles the administration side of the business from invoicing and accounts through to marketing. Mitchell Builders reputation for demanding very high standards from trades people and contractors alike are legendary. Staff are trained in house from apprentice carpenters through to master craftsmen builders. These very high standards are therefore passed on to their customers who appreciate these qualities and continue to use Mitchell Builders time and time again over the years. A design and build service is available for all areas of Whangarei and Northland, built up over years of experience and loyalty in this field. A significant part of our work has been undertaken by recommendation from previous customers, local, national and overseas architects, building supply companies and local authorities.

13 Health and Safety Policy MITCHELL BUILDERS LTD is committed to complying with the Health & Safety in Employment Act (1992) and its subsequent amendments, regulations relating to this Act, Codes of Practice and all other safe operation procedures. Management is committed and responsible for the education, training and development of all employees and to help them understand and work with this commitment and the respective governing laws. Management is committed to continuously improve and review this Health & Safety Policy document. To this end, all employees are encouraged to attend any meeting called for the purposes of discussing Health & Safety in the workplace. The Company s purpose in having this Health & Safety document is not merely to comply with the Act but to ensure that all of our employees are provided with a safe working environment. To this end, due consideration shall be given to safety issues pertaining to the purchase or design of any new equipment or process that affects any employee. Safety in the workplace requires mutual co-operation from management and employees. It is therefore a Company requirement that all employees actively assist management in keeping the workplace clean and hazard free and to do everything within their power to create an injury free environment. This business shall formally recognise annually, that employee who demonstrates excellence and innovative performance in workplace Health & Safety. All employees must report to their supervisor or manager any new hazards or potential hazards that may arise and to do all things possible to avoid accident or injury to themselves, their fellow employees or any other person. Supervisors or designated Safety Officers must keep accurate reporting and recording records and it is a requirement that all Managers or Supervisory staff be accountable, trained and competent in matters of Health & Safety within their area of responsibility. It is our Company Policy that this Health & Safety Policy document is audited every six months either by competent in-house staff or by an outside service provider. All employees have a legal requirement to comply with the Health & Safety in Employment Act and must sign to acknowledge that they have read and understood the Company s Health & Safety documents.
