5 Transna'onal Coopera'on Programme MED Priority Axis 3: Protec,ng and promo,ng Mediterranean natural and cultural resources ( 79.4m) Specific Objec've 3.1: To enhance sustainable development policies for more efficient valorisa'on of natural resources and cultural heritage in coastal and adjacent mari'me areas Specific Objec've 3.2: To maintain biodiversity and natural ecosystems through strengthening the management and networking of protected areas Indica've types of ac'ons: - Improving the implementa'on of strategies and tools to beeer take into account weather events, drought, floods, land and coastal erosion in economic and tourism development strategies. - Tes'ng common standards and systems beeer taking into account climate change effects on the development of human ac'vi'es. - Harmonising environmental management concepts and tools at transna'onal level. - Studying and mapping certain categories of ecosystems and their principal threats in order to improve their understanding, management and protec'on. - Tes'ng of innova've technologies and tools facilita'ng effec've integrated environmental management (e.g. remedia'on technologies, monitoring tools ). - Enlarging protec'on plans to new areas.
6 Transna'onal Coopera'on Programme Balkan Mediterranean Priority Axis 2: Environment Specific Objec've 2.1: Maintain biodiversity and natural ecosystems by strengthening networking and management of protected areas, including NATURA 2000 ( 7.6m) Indica've types of ac'ons: - Development of joint strategies and policies promo'ng, tes'ng and implemen'ng concrete applica'ons, tests, pilot projects and prac'ces for sustainable management, for integrated land/sea planning policies, for the EU environmental targets monitoring and implementa'on of the corresponding EU legisla'on, including coastal zones integrated management and marine/mari'me planning. - Promo'on of scien'fic knowledge (studies, maps, reports, surveys, etc.) coupled with prac'cal applica'on tests of management techniques in order to achieve joint ac'on and management plans over biodiversity and nature protec'on. - Promo'on of integrated marine/mari'me and coastal planning coupled with pilot projects test aiming to consolidate marine/mari'me and coastal heritage. Specific Objec've 2.3: Develop skills for beeer environmental management and increase governance capaci'es ( 4.7m) - Sefng up educa'on, training and voca'onal educa'on schemes for raising environmental awareness and enhancing the capaci'es of relevant stakeholders in the field of environmental protec'on, monitoring and management.
7 Cross Border Coopera'on Programme ENI Med Thema,c Objec,ve: Environmental protec,on, climate change adapta,on and mi,ga,on Priority 4.4: Integrated Coastal Zone Management Incorporate the Ecosystem- Based management approach to ICZM into local development planning, through the improvement of intra- territorial coordina'on among different stakeholders Indica've types of ac'ons: - Spa'al planning sohware and informa've tools (GIS) to support decision makers. - ICZM trainings and workshops. - Training courses addressed to different stakeholders to support the ecosystem based approach in the management of mari'me ac'vi'es. - Tools for data analysis, data integra'on and forecas'ng which are intended to contribute to the ecosystem assessment of Mediterranean coastal areas.
