1 ENERGY, CARBON AND ECODESIGN SERVICES (ECS) CASE SHARING SESSION SUPPLY CHAIN PRPGRAM ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT PROGRAM FOR EUROGROUP SUPPLY CHAIN As the environmental protection tide keeps rising nowadays, consumers not only require products and services of low price with fine quality and safety, but also wish to purchase products that are produced by the workers who are treated with respect and dignity and under environmentally friendly circumstance. In this regard, Eurogroup, a leading wholesale distributor of consumer products, have come to expect practical, feasible, and cost-effective solutions to create sustainable value within its supply chain. SGS took up the challenge to develop an environmental audit program custom tailored to meet Eurogroup s specific goals. With reference to the environmental audit of the Global Social Compliance Program (GSCP), the program consists of five phases namely self-assessment survey, classroom training, preliminary audit, on-site coaching, and final audit. The scope of audit covers various environmental aspects and resources management. More importantly, an energy coaching session was incorporated into the program. Our experienced engineers identified and prioritized energy saving recommendations to factory in order to reduce its energy cost with minimum resources. A pilot run has been conducted on factories manufacturing furniture, plastic products, garments, toys, and electrical goods located in Pearl River Delta and Yantze River Delta. The pilot run was successfully completed in eight months with positive feedbacks from participating factories. It is thus worth note that another group of factories at different regions are now selected for consideration in next round. Eurogroup is the direct buying office of Coop and before also for Rewe Group. MARKS AND SPENCER ECO-FACTORIES VENDOR DAY Since 2008, M&S has awarded the eco-factory status to quality suppliers in Sri Lanka, the UK, and China. A noticeable reduction of electricity bills in an eco-factory has recently demonstrated sustainability can pay off, not just ecologically but financially too. M&S has further decided to reveal the findings of eco-factories to its top 100 suppliers by 2015.

2 SGS is invited by M&S to give presentation on their Vendor Day in China for further explanation about the Eco-factory status requirements. With the aid of on-site supports to the suppliers, our expertises are developed some supply chain services which could further assist the suppliers to achieve and maintain their M&S Eco-factory status. CARBON SERVICES GHG VERIFICATION OF SHELL S NATURAL GAS FIELD IN CHINA An efficient use of natural gas has been considered a simple and cost-effective way to reduce carbon dioxide emission in the power sector of most countries. The International Energy Agency expects a constant growth of natural gas demand in the next decade. To meet the growing needs of clean energy market, Royal Dutch Shell explores, develops and produces natural gas in many countries. In China, Shell provides stable natural gas supply to Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, and Hebei. In response to sustainability performance, Shell reveals its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in annual sustainability report. Compiling a GHG emissions inventory is the first step in the development of an organizational climate change action plan. To enhance the credibility of the reported GHG emissions, third-party verification is a crucial step to conduct a truthful and fair GHG inventory for pubic trust, government accountability and transparency. SGS is honored to be appointed by Shell Exploration and Production Co. Ltd. as an independent third-party verifying the GHG emissions in a natural gas field in China. The verification offers an exceptional value to the reported GHG emissions for stakeholders, customers and the wider community. ISO GREENHOUSE GAS VERIFICATION FOR DUPONT APOLLO To further enhance carbon reporting and reduction, DuPont Apollo Limited an international advanced thin film photovoltaic manufacturer has established their Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory (organization level) for the region of Hong Kong & Shenzhen. To further enhance the GHG engagement, SGS is honored to be appointed by DuPont as an independent third-party in verifying the GHG emissions in their Business, R&D center and manufacturing plant where located at Hong Kong and Shenzhen in accordance with the requirement of ISO

3 Through the Organizational Greenhouse Gas Verification (ISO ) services, this would further strengthen DuPont Apollo s sustainability image on environmental especially on the field of carbon and energy as well as offering an opportunity to the reported GHG emissions for their stakeholders, customers and the wider community. OXFAM TRAILWALKER OFFICIAL GREEN MANAGEMENT PARTNER Since 2009, SGS had been working with OxfamHong Kong to provide innovative carbon service for Oxfam Trailwalker (OTW) 2009 which became the first-of-its-kind charity-based carbon footprint project in Hong Kong and successfully gained attention from general public the awareness on climate change issue. This year, SGS continues its support to this meaningful event by not only providing carbon service but to assist Oxfam in managing the whole trailwalker event in a more sustainable manner. Being one of the world class fundraising events, Oxfam is continuously responding to the climate change issue among the globe. In 2011, SGS has supported Oxfam to provide talks to the participants of trailwalkers in participating the event in a low-carbon way. With the success of conducting carbon footprint for this world class event for the third year, this year SGS and Oxfam wanted to take a step further, by incorporating more sustainability initiative into the planning and organizing of the entire events.
