2 Brief justification of demand of study programme: Lithuanian farmers working in the global market the success can only bring the modern contemporary technique, which allow to achieve the maximum productivity with minimal costs of production, storage and processing. Modernization and implementation of innovative technologies have a need for highly qualified specialists, who are able to create scientific knowledge and apply scientific achievements in the technological processes and equipment development, assuring the reliable work, optimal operating costs and quality of work. Graduates of the study program - masters needed in doctoral studies, for scientific research activities in industrial enterprises, colleges, pedagogical work, administrative work, for all fields of agricultural engineering - the work of agricultural machinery and technology design, manufacturing in the technical service companies, whose activities include the transport machinery, agricultural machinery, stationary technology and equipment design, manufacture, and reliable long term exploitation, safety and environmental protection. Based on the need for specialists in agricultural research activities and forecasts data (see and evaluating scientific, training and consultancy spheres, every year the need qualified professionals. Requirements for admission: Persons, who are accepted in the second cycle studies: - completed the first cycle (bachelor) university studies of field of Mechanical Engineering; - completed the first cycle (bachelor) general university studies of other areas of technology sciences and have completed and passed exams of subjects of basics of Mechanical engineering or special education, whose total should be no less than 30 credits; - completed college (professional bachelor) studies, have at least one year work experience after college studies and completed the supplementary studies according to study programme of Mechanical Engineering. Opportunities for career and further studies: Graduates of this study programme are able to work experts, analysts, researchers, engineers consultants: In technical and technological design (scientific - industrial firms), manufacturing and technical service companies; In management, administration and quality control institutions; In road vehicle technical expertise companies, agricultural machinery administration institutions; In manufacturing, technical service and logistics companies; In own (private) businesses; Education and consultation offices. Graduates will be prepared to study in doctoral studies field of Mechanical Engineering and in other fields of technology sciences. The aim of the study programme: The main goal of the study programme is to deepen theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering, develop original thought and special abilities of problemsolving essential for the accomplishment of scientific research and/or preparation for the third cycle studies as well as implementation of innovations and integration of different knowledge in one s professional activity.
