As a supplier to the aquaculture industry we are very aware that the products we supply today may not necassarily be the products we will supply in years to come. We have to look to the future We have to remain innovative and work closely and listen well to our customers. We must work together with the relevant bodies and authorites to provide alternative solutions for the industry.
Technical Challenges Fish Farm s nowadays face less techincal challenges than before. They are technically well equipped. Have a good basis of equipment that is required to run a site. Equipment nowadays is much more advanced More and more suppliers are coming in to the market offering solutions
Technical Challenges Some of the challenges our Customer s Report are: Recording accurate Titrations. To have accurate sample weighing in water To have reliable 24/7 environmental monitoring To have more Reliable camera systems Environment changes/ more extreme weather
Biological Challenges AGD Scotland and Ireland were affected significantly in 2012 with AGD it hasnt been reported to have been as bad however sites have still been working against AGD It is important that suppliers strive to offer solutions.
Biological Challenges Sea Lice Scotland and Ireland have on going challenges with sea lice Farms are treating this with medicine, mainly hydrogen peroxide. This has a stress on the farms both for fish welfare and also financially Again it is important that Suppliers strive to offer solutions.
Biological Challenges Bio-security As a supplier we always discuss with our customer s the importance of bio security. We stress that equipment that cannot be 100% disinfected should not be transferred between sites The Code of Good Practice gives guidelines and advice on bio security which companies are expected to follow. Bio-security rules Are they likely to be implemented?
