4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry Ethylene producing Petroleum refining Four stages of steam pipe networks Ultra-high pressure: 12.0MPaG,490 C, supply by the Cracking Furnace High-pressure: 4.0MPaG,420 C,158.6 t/h for refining and t/h for ChemE; Medium-pressure:1.0~1.2MPaG,260~290 C,22.4 t/h; Low pressure:0.35~0.4mpag,190 C, t/h

4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry HTR could be used as the steam supply system of petrochemical factory instead of its own thermal power station
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry Main Parameters of HTR-PM600 Units Value Parameter of reactor Parameter of steam generator Parameter of steam turbine Total Thermal Power MW Working Pressure of Helium in the Primary Loop MPa 7.0 Temperature at Core Inlet 250 Temperature at Core Outlet 750 Mass flow of Helium kg/s 96 Temperature at the Inlet of Secondary side of SG Pressure at the Inlet of Secondary side of SG MPa 15.2 Temperature at the Outlet of Secondary side of SG 571 Pressure at the Outlet of Secondary Side of SG MPa 13.2 Rated Flow of Main Steam t/h 2076 Rated Electrical Power MW 653 Inlet Steam Pressure MPa Inlet Steam Temperature 566 Exhaust Steam Pressure of Low Pressure Cylinder kpa 4.9 Capacity of Bypass System of SG / 50% Flow of Supply Water when staring-up / 30% Steam parameters can be further improved according to the specific parameters of petrochemical factory.

4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry HTR-PM600 steam turbine unit for heat application HTR-PM Steam turbine unit for electricity generation
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry Direct cost method
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry The cost of HTR-PM600 providing heat could save $681/h compared with the self-owned thermal power station, therefore it could add up to $5,964,615 for a whole The lower the on-grid price for electricity generated by HTR and the higher the price for coal would be, meanwhile, the cost of heat supplied by HTR is lower as well. Political factors such as carbon tax is not considered.
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry Influence of Explosion Source Oil Refining District: Low Risk Chemical Engineering District: Low Risk Tank Farm: High Risk Oil Refining District Tank Farm HTR Chemical Engineering District Torch Thermal Radiation
4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry Influence of Potential Toxicity Benzene For the safety of HTR and factory, it should be remembered that: (1) The ground of HTR should be higher than the ground of tank farm where contains large amount of toxic materials. (2) HTR should be placed at the downwind and it should be Acrylonitrile the least frequent wind direction of the whole year. (3) Sometimes, the special protective items such as firewall, blastwall should be designed and located.
1. Background, increasing demand of heat energy 2. What can be offered by HTR and what s the benefit 3. Process heat of HTR 4. Applications of HTR in Oil Refining Industry 5. Conclusion
5. Conclusion HTR process heat application potential market is wide. HTR can offer high quality heat with a wide temperature range. It is possible to use HTR-PM600 to provide process steam for refineries. If uses HTR-PM600 to provide steam for refineries, the parameters of reactor and steam generator will not need to change totally, which is technically easy to solve. The steam turbine of HTR needs to be redesigned, and it can use the mature technology of turbines of thermal power station for reference. The economy of this project is also acceptable.
