2 SEEM National Energy Management Award 2017 SEEM National Energy Management awards SNEMA recognize and support best efforts taken by various sectors for improving energy efficiency, there by supporting India s journey towards climate change mitigation and sustainable development. Unlike other awards, SNEMA do not focus on the percentage of energy saving achieved during the assessment year, instead systematic actions towards sustainable energy performance are considered for recognition. This approach ensures that assessment does not get skewed based on production levels. Due importance has been given for involvement of employees for energy conservation, effective energy monitoring and review mechanism, Training for employees, Periodic energy audits, Condition based maintenance management focusing energy efficiency, introduction of latest energy conservation measures, Effective utilization of renewable energy, Observation of National energy conservation day / Energy week, Mass awareness campaign etc. From the 184 nominations, SNEMA Award jury has identified the best performing industries, facilities and individuals in various categories. This year we have introduced a new recognition SEEM Visionary leadership award to honor visionary leaders who transformed our country with their contributions to the field of Energy conservation and management. SNEMA 2017 Award ceremony will be held at Institution of Engineers hall at Near ITO, New Delhi on 25 May SEEM feel proud to recognize the best performers and Congratulate all the award winners! 3 SEEM National Energy Management Award 2017 Visionary Leadership Award Dr. Ajay Mathur - Ajay Mathur is Director General of TERI - The Energy & Resources Institute, and a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change. He was Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency in the Government of India from 2006 till February, 2016, and responsible for bringing energy efficiency into our homes, offices, and factories, through initiatives such as the star labelling programme for appliances, the Energy Conservation Building Code, and the Perform, Achieve and Trade programme for energy-intensive industries.
