1 Job Description Food Services Cook Inchelium School District No. 70 PO Box 285 Inchelium WA POSITION SUMMARY Prepares and cooks large quantities of food in a school cafeteria setting. Assists the head cook in preparation of menu items, such as soups, meats, vegetables, fruits, breads, salads, and salad bar for consumption through the use of cafeteria equipment and cooking/baking processes. Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation. 2 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Detailed Work Activities cuts cooked or raw foods prepares foods for cooking or serving cleans food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment cooks foods inspects facilities, equipment or supplies to ensure conformance to standards serves food or beverages monitors food services operations to ensure procedures are followed cleans tableware maintain food, beverage, or equipment inventories prepares breads or doughs assists in training food service personnel Tasks cleans, cuts, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry cooks foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served cleans and inspects galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation apportions and serves food to student and staff washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment maintains production records specified by Head Cook assists in maintaining monthly inventory of supplies and equipment bakes breads, rolls, or other pastries trains new employees as instructed anticipates problems, where possible, and recommends appropriate policies to the Head Cook knows the policies of the school system and administration of those policies works to further promote the food service program and increase participation 2

3 work effectively with school personnel, head cook and food service director shall take responsibility for and take reasonable precaution to protect life, health, and well-being of all persons in the building maintains records, as determined by state records retention information keeps current with employee safety training, such as bloodborne pathogens training, etc. as a district employee, follows all district policy and state law QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience The minimum amount of education and/or experience necessary for the employee to be successful in the position: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
