6 The Result and Policy Implications The findings show evidence of unequal division household labor and tasks, but an increase in wife s monthly wage enhances her ability to bargain for husband s greater involvement in housework and care work. Policies that promote men s involvement in unpaid domestic and care activities and foster equal division of household labor will reduce women s workload and help them achieve a healthy work-life balance in Thailand. 6

8 Collaborations: NSO & DWF Thailand Statistical System 5-year Plan formulated by Sector Statistical committees in line with Thailand Statistical Master Plan(TSMP) and the 5-year National Social and Economic Development Plan(NESDP) There is 21 Sectors Statistics Committees which each sector has secretariat from core agency from focal line ministry and NSO 8

9 Gender Statistics Development Plan (GSDP) 9 Formulated by Gender Statistics Committee which chaired by Permanent Secretary of Social Development and Human Security Ministry and secretariat by department of woman s affair and family development and NSO. Consist of Policies related to gender equality and women empowerment in line with NESDP (not include family planning which in health sectors) Indicators and statistics for those policy and status of data availability. statistical capacity development for related agencies.

10 Current actions Provide annual report 2015 to the cabinet. Formulate draft 2 nd TSMP. Reviewing related indicators (MD + Regional core set, SDGs, IMD, etc.) 10

14 Challenges: 14 Available data are not comprehensive and not regularly produced. Lack of data and no responsible agencies. Source of data come from many agencies and different definitions. No aggregate data for some indicators in national level (for instance ; number of women at executive and decision-making levels, etc). No sex disaggregation in some sectors (Such as health, justice sector etc.) Lack of statistical capacity and resources.

15 Challenges: No data center for collecting administrative data from data providers (line ministry level and local level) No information system for tracking national women policy development and for international organizations. 15
