By nominating you, they commit to working with you throughout the production and installation of your work, to guide and support you. It is an important relationship and one that will help you to realise your work. When you are filling in the online application form, think carefully about what the Award team is asking you to tell them. Your answers don t have to be long, but they need to be focused and honest. If you foresee challenges in the creation of your work, for example, tell us what they are and how you may need help in overcoming them. Do your research: if you are thinking about what your artwork production might cost, ring potential suppliers and ask them to quote. A budget doesn t have to be definitive at the beginning, and it will be a work in progress, but it s helpful to start somewhere. Think big, but think practical. 1) You are offered three locations for exhibition in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah; interior or exterior, according to your project. They are: New York University Abu Dhabi Maraya Art Park at Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Qasr Al Sarab, Liwa Higher College of Technology, Al Ruwais, Abu Dhabi We suggest that you use these locations to exhibit your work. If you have strong alternatives and it is an achievable aim, give us details. 2) Can your work adapt to different locations? The exhibition goes on tour after its initial unveiling in Abu Dhabi, so the project needs to be adaptable and transportable ) Can you produce your project for $5,000 USD [18,350 AED]? Do you want to work as a team or on your own? If you have an idea between you, and think that it would be good to work together, go for it [maximum of three entrants per application]. Enjoy the experience and have fun. This is a tremendous opportunity to create a work of art and learn from arts professionals.

By nominating an applicant, the mentor commits to working with the student throughout the application, production and exhibition processes. It is a substantial time commitment. The mentor will be expected to be present for key phases, and will have public visibility as a member of the Award process. The Award team hopes that it will be as rewarding an experience for the mentor, as it is for the artist. The artist s mentor will be a valued member of the Award team and accredited as such in publications and press. NOMINATOR STATEMENT Please include your relationship to the nominee, how the Award would benefit the nominee s work and professional development, potential challenges the nominee will have to overcome in order for the project to succeed, how you plan to work with the nominee to meet these challenges and support the production of their project, confirmation of your commitment to mentoring the artist through the planning, production and exhibition phases of the artwork commission (covering at least a 6-month period of time). 4 CREATIVE STATEMENT Please summarise your artistic proposal. Give details of the work you would like to make including: Title, media [example, aluminium and steel ], scale/dimensions, short explanation of the meaning behind the work, drawings/ plans, production materials and process [example: aluminium and steel to be fabricated by professional metalsmiths or wood to be sculpted by applicant s own hand ], suppliers of the materials/ labour, a plan of how you would like to exhibit the work (what kind of terrain, interior/ exterior, what lighting if any etc please include written description and sketches if possible), and ideas about where you would like to exhibit the work [if applicable].
