1 Swim Australia TM Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Application for Recognition of Current Competency (SAT CALD RCC) A Swim Australia TM Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse has the competency of a Swim Australia Teacher with additional specific knowledge and abilities related to teaching swimming and water safety to from a diverse range of cultures, religions and language groups For a Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) application to be successful, an applicant must satisfy all the competency criteria for a Swim Australia TM Teacher and the specific knowledge and abilities usually gained through undertaking the SAT Culturally and Linguistically Diverse course by proving that they currently possess an equivalent level of theoretical knowledge and practical ability across all competency areas when compared to someone who has undertaken a Swim Australia Teacher course and a Swim Australia Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and been deemed competent. Should only partial RCC be granted, an applicant may be offered theory or practical learning and assessment options in order to gain the skills or knowledge to be assessed as competent across all areas. The table overleaf provides an indication of what other qualifications would most likely meet the standards of equivalency to gain RCC. Application Process 1. The information provided in this application should be carefully read. 2. Complete the Student Enrolment and Tax Invoice overleaf including your USI number: Attach a brief CV and employment history with contact details of employer/s related to your involvement in aquatics Provide copies of qualifications, accreditations and/or certificates relating to aquatics (no originals) You must be 17 years of age or older to gain accreditation Include payment 3. Send the RCC Application details, Tax Invoice and attachments to asctaaccreditation for consideration. The cost includes: asctaaccreditation determination of your application Swim Australia TM Teacher and/or Swim Australia Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Certificate if/when the RCC application is successful Accreditation valid for 4 years ASCTA Basic membership until June 30 th of the following year Access to the Swim Australia TM Teacher of Culturally and Linguitically Diverse online course Reregistration reminder 4. asctaaccreditation processes the payment and considers the application: as the Swim Australia Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Course contains a large amount of new theory information on teaching swimmers from a diverse range of cultural groups, religions and language groups, all applicants will be required to undertake the Units of Study via self-paced online study. asctaaccreditation will you the Swim Australia TM Teacher of Culturally and Linguistically diverse link. If you choose to you can download the content as a PDF file. You will be given 6 months to complete the online training. Additional requirements may be requested depending on the evidence submitted. If unsuccessful, asctaaccreditation will advise in writing outlining an appeal process. If you disagree with the RCC determination, appeals and/or complaints should be made in writing and addressed to the asctaaccreditation Manager. If the application is deemed unsuccessful you will be advised in writing and will have up to 12 months to submit further evidence. At the expiration of 6 months from the time your RCC application is received the application will lapse if not concluded. Language, Literacy and Numeracy: Intending applicants should contact ASCTA if extra assistance is required in completing the RCC process. An extra fee may be negotiated where costs are incurred providing such assistance. Policies, Appeals and Complaints: ASCTA treats everyone impartially (and as a valued client) as per ASCTA s anti-discrimination policy.
