Rating Supervisor: HOWELL, LAWRENCE Duties & Responsibilities Percent of Duty Total: Records % of Time Responsibility / Duty Must understand the service role of these enterprises as well as the management practices and principles that underlie their successful operation. The service role includes: providing customer service to students, faculty, staff and external customers; meets customer needs, offers options, resolves problems and follows up with customers; ensures full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customer to other staff members; and maintains a friendly, professional, helpful demeanor. Acts as liaison and oversees the compliance of the food service and bookstore contracts which includes the campus bookstore, resident dining and privatized housing meal plan programs, catering, the Student Union food outlets, privatized housing convenience store/deli, and campus-wide concession sales. Responsible for the development, guidance and approval of all departmental policies and procedures of all reporting operations. Responsible for the direct supervision of numerous events that are held in the Student Union, other campus locations, and the President's home. This includes the reservation process,

4 coordination of all University departments involved in staging an event, and ensuring that all University and Board of Supervisor's policies and procedures are closely followed. Represents the department and division on various University committees in order to foster sound professional relationships and good will. Provides leadership and strategic direction to the departments supervised within Auxiliary Services. Directly or indirectly supervises all staff assigned to division, usually through subordinate managers and assistant managers. Determines staffing needs based on goals and objectives of Auxiliary Services. Determines and/or recommends division salary administration including raises, promotions and reclassifications. Approves/disapproves all work guidance actions within Auxiliary Services Provides administrative overview, preparation, and management of all reporting departments' annual budgets. The executive director is responsible for the inventory and procurement procedures to ensure that all purchases and contact with vendors are handled in an ethical manner and follow all University and state regulations. Approves all large equipment purchases for the department. Oversees and approves electronically, FRS System, of departmental purchases and transactions. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and short- and long-term strategic plans (goals) to enhance division operations. The executive director is responsible for the preparation, review, prioritization, and submittal of the individual operation and departmental annual reports. Establishes and maintains appropriate network of professional contacts. Maintains currency with professional organizations and publications. Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, etc. Represents University and/or division as assigned or as appropriate.
