Operating from our London head office, we recruit Board Directors, CEOs and their direct reports, including business and functional heads for a diverse range of clients. 4 About us Executive Search Carbon applies a rigorous and robust search process. This involves both Carbon and our client investing significant time at the outset of every assignment to ensure that the role, reporting lines and the cultural aspects of the firm are fully understood by both parties such that these can be clearly communicated to potential candidates. The benefit of this analysis, combined with extensive market research of each candidate, is that our clients need only meet those three or four candidates who have the skills and aptitude required for the role and the interest in pursuing it. This will allow our client to focus on the key aspect of fit and shorten their involvement in the process to the effective minimum. Additionally, Carbon undertakes comprehensive referencing to understand strengths, weaknesses and motivations, thus ensuring there is a better chance that the successful candidate will both remain and prosper with the firm to the benefit of the overall client organisation. Post appointment, both client and the newly appointed candidate benefit from the continuing involvement of Carbon in the relationship between them. In this period, when the new appointee is becoming embedded in the organisation, Carbon will provide objective advice and counsel to each, which will speed the transition to the benefit of all. Market Advisory Our bespoke studies provide a detailed picture of the executives and leaders within the market, in a discrete and informative way. These short exercises, usually taking around four weeks, can either be undertaken as a standalone assignment, or can provide the foundation for a progression into a full search. The benefit of a Carbon study is that you can clearly assess the talent that exists. This could be within new markets, allowing you to benchmark internal talent, understand the competitor landscape, assess the diversity within talent pools, and analyse compensation. Our reports are confidential, comprehensive and validated, providing a depth of content not comparable with information available publicly. This rigorous approach ensures that your organisation is best placed to understand the talent landscape. Referencing Building a 360 overview of a candidate through detailed referencing brings a significant level of objectivity to the hiring process. The type of questioning we use is designed to draw out how a candidate operates, where their professional spike is greatest and their approach to the management and leadership of others. Whilst referencing is a standard feature of our executive search process we also provide the service as a standalone product. Our referencing product offers a bespoke set of references specific to our client s needs, ensuring all measures are taken to enable successful, high-impact hires. Our reports provides rigorous and indepth references of your nominated individual which can reveal insights that are not always brought to light during the initial interview process. The track record will be closely examined and validated in order to support the decision-making process. Carbon speaks formally with nominated referees, as well utilising our extensive network to gain insight from customers, historic managers, peers and direct reports. We will also seek insight from colleagues and associates in any advisory or charity work undertaken by the individual. 4

Business Heads Working with the CEOs of our client organisations across banking, insurance and asset management, Carbon hires senior business leaders for their executive teams. 7 The team Carbon takes a collaborative approach to each assignment, drawing on the deep industry knowledge and experience of the team. Every assignment is resourced with a combination of Partners and Associates who work closely together to deliver a seamless and efficient client and candidate experience. Paul Steggall Partner Paul founded Carbon in 1999 to deliver senior level executive search to a select group of financial services clients. Today, under his leadership, Carbon has established an impressive portfolio of clients in banking, insurance and asset management, where it demonstrates a track record of hiring nonexecutive and executive leaders who have successfully shaped and defined the organisations within which they work. Paul works with a range of organisations across Carbon s EMEA client base to appoint CEOs and functional leaders in both developed and emerging markets. Prior to establishing Carbon, Paul spent three years at a specialist technology recruitment firm. He is a director of a theatre company and enjoys endurance sports expeditions. Stephen Warrington Non-Executive Chairman In 2006 Stephen joined Carbon as Non-Executive Chairman. He has a wide knowledge of the financial services industry and extensive experience leading professional services businesses and consulting to top management in various multinationals. He is a Partner of a leading consulting firm and previously held the role of director of group strategy at a major UK international bank. Stephen holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Banking and International Finance from City University Business School (now Cass) in London. Stephen is a keen amateur actor and enjoys tennis. Alicia Seoane-Ireland Partner Alicia has been with Carbon since its first year and has played a key role in shaping Carbon s approach and client footprint. Her focus is on building management teams for a portfolio of financial services clients from start-up organisations to FTSE 50 businesses. She works to find talented leaders for both commercial and functional roles across retail banking, consumer finance, commercial banking and insurance. Being multi-lingual makes Alicia invaluable to Carbon s international work. Prior to joining Carbon, Alicia worked for a high profile defence organisation in contract negotiation. She was educated internationally and holds a first class degree in Management Studies from Brunel University. 7
8 The team Christine Loughrey Principal Christine joined Carbon in 2013 as a Principal following the acquisition of her business, The Research Bank, a boutique executive research firm. Christine works with a diverse portfolio of established and start-up clients across the retail and commercial banking, consumer finance and insurance sectors, executing executive and non-executive searches. Additionally, she is responsible for the management of the Carbon Associate programme, developing and nurturing talent within the business. Christine graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA in Business Economics and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Diana Lloyd-Jones Assignment Manager Diana is an Assignment Manager at Carbon responsible for project management and execution, key marketing initiatives for the team and the smooth running of the office. Before joining Carbon, Diana worked for an array of multi national companies within commercial property investment and development, retail and PR sectors. Rachel Dalton Practice Development Principal Rachel joined Carbon in 2007, and is responsible for the smooth running of the finance function, providing support to Partners on finance matters and other operational projects. Rachel qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte & Touche in She graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, with a first in Mathematics and Psychology. She enjoys organising charity fundraising events and taking part in sporting challenges. 8
9 The team Samira Sharples Associate Samira joined Carbon in 2014 as an Associate, having graduated from King s College London with a first class honours in business management. Samira s internship experience has spanned marketing and financial services, from work experience in a London-based travel and leisure boutique, to a multinational professional services firm. Samira enjoys singing and playing the piano, and is a keen traveller having grown up across the Middle East. Eliza Baker Associate Eliza joined Carbon in 2015 as an Associate, having graduated from the University of Sheffield with a First Class honours in BSc Economics. Eliza had internships involving CRM database production, sales force territory management and project pipeline planning within the construction materials and passive fire protection industries, working within UK and Poland. A keen skier, Eliza also enjoys diving and is an Advanced qualified Scuba Diver having lived and travelled extensively in Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe. Alastair Cockrem Associate Alastair joined Carbon in 2017 as an Associate, following a number of years as an intern at the firm. He graduated from the University of Exeter with an LLB in Law, having excelled in Company Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and European Union Law. Previous internship experience has included a FTSE 100 insurance company, a start-up digital bank and a property management company in Switzerland. Alastair is a keen linguist, having studied French alongside the law at university, and an accomplished musician, playing both the piano and organ. 9
