2 TasTAFE and Tasmanian Advanced Minerals (TAM) have determined that the above units will be offered in the delivery of this program. The selection of units has been based on TAM s needs and confirmation of the availability of resources, equipment and training and assessment staff vocational competence. The packaging rules allow for the selection of electives other than those listed above. In cases where the program structure is modified or in response to individual student needs and recognition applications, the Educational Team Leader will approve unit changes ensuring that TAM has the required resources/equipment/materials and vocationally competent trainers and assessors as required. Details relating to co-requisite and pre-requisite requirements are listed in the validated Qualification Checklist. CRICOS registration No Program duration As a guide, it is possible for the participant to complete this qualification within 2-3 years Program location/s This qualification is delivered in the workplace at the Client s processing plant at Wynyard, Tasmania. Licensing Outcomes Not Applicable Section 3.0 Clients and Support Student/client group(s) Specific student/client needs and support services available for the identified student/client group(s) General TasTAFE support services People who have gained employment with TAM for the purposes of undertaking a traineeship; and/or People already working with TAM and wanting to gain a formal qualification e.g. recognition. TAM provides assistance with basic IT skills and LLN support in the workplace. TasTAFE provides a range of support services including: language, literacy and numeracy support; disability support; child care support; financial advice; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support. Further information is available in the Student Handbook, Student Information Brochure and the TasTAFE website. Transitioning arrangements for students (as applicable) This qualification supersedes RII Certificate III in Resource processing, and all participants currently undertaking that qualification that will not complete by 14 May 2015 will be transferred into RII Certificate III in Resource processing. 3 Entry requirements Selection process International Student support There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification Participants in this qualification will be employees selected by TAM N/A Section 4.0 Training and Assessment Arrangements Recognition Training delivery Recognition in the form of RPL and Credit Transfer is offered to students prior to enrolment. On the job training will be delivered by a TAM trainer that holds Cert IV TAE and the relevant vocational competency and currency. However, if the trainer does not hold the required vocational competency and currency in a specific unit of competence then a TAM Subject Matter Expert (SME) will work with the assessor as a team to deliver the training. On the job training may be delivered as part of the student daily work activities via a combination of: one-to-one coaching by more experienced co-workers, with opportunity for demonstration, explanation, practice and feedback job rotation in collaboration with enterprise personnel Discussion Demonstrations Practical activities Mentoring in the workplace. Detailed information about the structure and sequencing of this program are outlined in the individual training plans. Training resources are located at all program delivery locations. Assessment A range of assessment methods are used for each unit or cluster of units when assessing competence. Contextualised assessment and recognition instruments and tools have been developed and mapped to the units by TAM assessors in collaboration with TasTAFE. Assessment strategies may involve: observation and demonstration of work skills; questions answered either verbally or written third party report (workplace testimonial) Work samples Assessment activities have been developed to meet the specific evidence requirements of each unit of competency as per the Training Package details. TAM utilise Assessment Packages that include the following components: assessment tasks, instruments, student and assessor instructions, evidence criteria, competency mapping, decision making rules and recording and reporting documents. Student will be assessed as part of their daily work activities. Page 3 of 6 RII30413 TAM May 2015
4 As per the ASQA Direction, TasTAFE will retain all completed student assessment items/work for a period of six months from the date competence was achieved. All assessment resources associated with this program including assessment plans, assessment packages and validation schedules and records are located at O:\PostYear10\Statewide\Mining\RII Training Package 2015\RII30313 Assessment validation The Quality Assessment System and associated templates are located on the TasTAFE Intranet. Both pre-assessment validation of assessment packages and post-assessment validation is undertaken. The Quality Assessment System, Assessment Validation Schedule Template and Pre and Post Assessment Validation Checklists are located on the TasTAFE Intranet and outline the requirements of TasTAFE to systematically coordinate and validate packages. Evidence of pre and post assessment validation for this program is located at O:\PostYear10\Statewide\Mining\RII Training Package 2015\RII30413 Monitoring arrangements and continuous improvement strategies Future validation sessions have been scheduled for July The Assessment Validation Schedule for this program is located at O:\PostYear10\Statewide\Mining\RII Training Package 2015\RII30413 TasTAFE is committed to the ongoing monitoring and improvement of programs to ensure that student and industry needs continue to be met. A range of feedback and evaluation methods are utilised for this program and include: The Quality Indicator Learner and Employer Questionnaires; Teaching team specific student feedback processes (end of unit, end of course evaluations); TasTAFE Feedback Centre accessed via the web ( Feedback from teaching staff (documented in meeting minutes); TasTAFE internal audits; External audits; Industry consultations and feedback. Feedback is collected, analysed and actioned on a planned and systematic basis. Identified actions are documented in teaching team Continuous Improvement Plans. 5 Section 5.0 Human and Physical Resources All trainers and assessors must meet the training and assessment and vocational requirements specified in both the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations (SNR) and the relevant Training Package/Accredited Course. TAM trainer/assessor and competence policies and procedures are located on the TasTAFE Intranet. TasTAFE has documented procedures in place outlining the training and assessment and vocational competence requirements of teachers including requirements for those teachers delivering training under supervision and co-assessing. Competence is verified and documented as per the procedure and evidence of continued competence development and currency is monitored by Educational Team Leaders. Educational Team Leaders are required to retain up to date files for each teacher. Industry members consulted include: Josh Fraser, Operations Manager, Tasmanian Advanced Minerals Industry and other stakeholder consultations occur on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Evidence of industry consultations and resulting actions is documented. Ongoing consultations with stakeholders assist in evaluating the course and identifying opportunities for improvement.
